recently my ex boyfriend asked me if i would date him again and i said no it hurt him really bad but he hurt me all the other times he broke up with me did i do the right thing by saying no i love him but im actually happy now and if we dated again we would just break up again and it would have me in a big mess again.

You did the right thing. If this is a recurring trend with your ex then it sounds like he uses you until he finds someone else. You will get over the hurt much easier now then later when not only will you not have found a meaningful relationship, he will have left you for the last time.

It sounds like you did. Just make sure you dont have any more feelings for this guy. I mean you're always going to have feelings for him cause thats your history. But make sure you dont want to be with him ever again. Things could get really complicated. You could start going with someone else and they could treat you worse and you would want the other guy back. But if he kept breaking up with you then yeah dont get back with him.
