Legally, you have the right to refuse care from any provider for whatever reason. Now, is your mom going to appreciate you wasting her gas and time and potentially embarrassing her after you arrive in the office? Probably not.
If you are afraid, then just tell her. But, insist on a female gynecologist if you want. I'm almost 40 and have never had a male GYN--I just feel a woman can actually understand how I feel , literally--I mean she's been through it.
If you are resigned to go to a male GYN, during the exam, there is always a female nurse or assistant in the room. This makes you feel safer but really it is for the doctor's protection against false claims--you can imagine.
No GYN exam is pleasant. If you're a virgin, they won't be rough. There's a lot of probing and prodding ( all sterile) and swabs from your cervix will b taken with a cotton swab (like a Q tip).
It's not a bad idea to be examined. You don't have to be sexually active to have problems like cysts, precancerous cells, etc.
Sounds like your mom wants to be safe.
But, you don't have to go. If it comes down to the wire, just politely let your mom know that YOU know that you don't have to submit to an exam.
No doctor in his right mind would proceed to examine you if you told him "no". He would then be liable for assault.

First of all-- CALM DOWN! It excellent of your mother to say you need to go to the doctor. It's the first step to knowing your body and keeping it healthy. Are you too young? Well, that is debatable. If you are not sexually active, they recommend that you go every year after you are 18. However, I would say that it's not a bad thing to go sooner. Will it hurt? Well, I was a virgin when I first went, and I'm not going to lie... It hurt. But, if you are sexually active, it won't hurt at all. My recommendation to you is thus.... If you are uncomfortable in any way shape or form, go to a female doctor. They will be (in my experiance) slightly more sympathetic towards younger females, and will be extra gentle, since most adult woman have had a bad experiance with a doctor not being gentle. Don't worry about a thing-- you are on your way to growing up, and your mother is recognizing that fact. Good luck!!!

My first time was horrible... until it was over. There is nothing anyone is going to say that will make you feel better about going to the gyno for the first time. No it won't hurt. Will you feel shy and embarassed, probably. The more you go (which you should at your age once a year) the less horrible it gets. Make sure the gyno knows its your first time, they deal with first timers all the time and will let you know what they are doing and what they're about to do. Most likely your doc will try to make the vaginal exam go quickly. You'll probably have a pap smear as well which only takes a second but feels a little funky. Don't worry. It'll be ok.

The fact that you have a history of having irregular periods means it is likely a good idea that you go. Your mother should request a female doctor if you would be more comfortable with one for a gynecological consultation. If your mother won't you can refuse when you see the doctor to be examined and say you want to see a female doctor for that.
Ask the questions you are concerned about to the doctor that will examine you. If they don't make you feel comfortable about the tests they will do, refuse them.
I am not saying there won't be some level of discomfort, but a good gynecologist will be sensitive to the fact that it is your first time, that you have questions and they should be able to reassure you, explain to you what they will do, how it will feel etc.

You are 16 and you know how to write so may I suggest you do some reading on the subject to better educate yourself. You will be fine as you are not the first nor will you be the last female seeing a GYN. Besides if you are sexually active this would be extremely important for you to see the doctor. Do not let any of us know if you are or are not that is not our business. Just do the right thing and get educated.

Your mom may not get to be in the room with the new privacy policies in place. Some doctors only recommend an exam if you are sexually active, or there are other health problems. Talk to the doctor and if you are not comfortable, talk with your mom about another doctor or to see your pediatrician for their advice.

calm down. it won't hurt although it may be uncomfortable. at 16 and not sexually active i don't see why she's making you go...but maybe u should ask her why? or i may have a different way out for you. when you get there, say that you don't want your mother in the room. explain to the doctor that you are not comfortable with this checkup and see no reason for it at this point in time. then tell him/her that you dont want your mother to know that there was no exam...mention patient-doctor confidentiality. he/she can't say a word to your mom without your permission.

Well, first off it doesn't hurt. I had to have an exam once and I won't lie to you I didn't enjoy it. But I don't think anyone should be forced into it. Your mother is right that you should go for smear tests every 6 months but you don't need them until you're sexually active.

If the vet is closed until day after today attempt to take tweezers and pluck it off then burn it. in the experience that your cat seems to be in soreness/desperate touch an emergancy vet close to you please! Or attempt lighting fixtures a experience, blow it out, pull your cat's fur aside and get the experience as on the element of the tick as obtainable, take the tweezers and pluck it off, then placed it in a plastic bag and throw it interior the trash or flush the tick down the lavatory.
