i can't believe people still think zidane is better than cannavaro. i mean come on...theyre close to the same age, and this year, ONE of them won the world cup, and ONE wins FIFA Player of the Year award. who? FABIO CANNAVARO. one of the best defensemen in the world, up there with nesta and maldini, and zidane is very overrated.

Umm,,, Just because Cannavaro wins 1 player of the year award does make him better than Zidane and Henry for JUST this year.
But honestly that is not gonna make him better than ZIDANE AND HENRY everytime. Zidane has himself won the honour 3 times and I'm sure Henry will get atleast 2 times before he retires.
Zidane is better than both Cannavaro and Henry.
The thing is Cannavaro may be better this year but that doesnt make him greater than Zidane.

I have lost all respect for Italy..Zidan is the best and he has won it 3 times. Canavaro is a great ....under wear model. As for the guy who compared Zidan to donkeys and monkeys well Cannavaro is compared to bolonni and a circus clown who loves to hang on Zidan's shoulders.

The thing with being better makes no sense.
The FIFA award is decided mostly by ignorants such as the coaches and captains of national teams you have never seen play. So this award has very few credibility, to me. It focuses on the commercial side of the sport (World Cup), commercial players (Ronaldinho) and never really evaluates a player in his year's regularity. But yes it is a prestigoius award, but it doesn't mean he's better.

Cannavaro is the best. You can't compare him to Zidane because Zidane has to be compared to cows or donkeys. I have no respect for Zidane and actually the respect after the world cup for Zidane is down to negative.
Cannavaro is the best, he will always be the best and there isn't any player in the world that can stop him because he is the only the person who can stop other players.

I disagree with kasper . Many players just have one great year and then they just vanish , so can we say that they are better than the best players of that time !
