in the U.S., the eastern time zone is preeminent and serves as the main point of reference for the other time zones. 10/9C means 10 Eastern, 9 Central. over 2/3 of the nation's viewing audience is in these two zones. it would also imply 8 Mountain, and, possibly, 7 Pacific. However, many affiliates will shift programming to accomodate pacific (west coast) viewers, since the time differential is so substantial
