It really depends on the individual. A standard craft gift is the name blocks. Blocks of word with the person's name and the meaning written on the wood. Or you can buy a cushion or something.
But something I've learnt in years of gift giving. Its best to buy a gift that the person you're giving to wants. Otherwise, they are just going to chuck your gift in a corner and only rediscover it 10 years down the road during spring cleaning.
If the person collects anime figurines, you might go to the local comics shop to browse around. Christmas is a time of giving, but taking the effort to find out what that person or friends like and catering to it is better then buying some random gift. Trust me, they'll remember you that way.

Google "world's smallest belly button lint remover" - it is adorable and hilarious. It's made with part of a pipe cleaner and an elongated bead. I received one last year and have had endless hours of entertainment from it. It should tickle just about everyone's funny bone. There are several web sites with instructions, but I didn't save them to refer back to. Have fun!

Candles are always a cute idea. You just get a plain white candle (or any other color, doesn't really matter), and put on sequins, buttons, ribbons, candy canes, whatever. You can glue, tape, (preferably glue) and you'll have a beautiful, decorative candle!

bookmarks are fun and easy to make. Homemade soaps are very appreciated as they are to be used and not obligatory in having it displayed as many crafts are (even a person like me, who appreciates the homemade gifts, don't have the space for many of them, or they don't go with my decor).
