Right now the Democrats are riding high thanks to George W Bush "staying the course" in Iraq, but if things should change then maybe Bush will go from bad guy to hero again.
So, what would you rather see ?
A. Bush continuing to lose votes through his "staying the course" policies in Iraq, thereby improving the chances that the next President is a Democrat, even if those current Bush policies mean more problems for the USA at home and abroad, and more soldiers dying in Iraq.
B. A change of policies by Bush in Iraq to ease the tension, but with the possibilty that such a change will help improve the Republicans chances at the next election instead.

As a lifelong Democrat, I'd still rather see B, because sooner or later people will figure out the two parties aren't that different, and certainly saving lives is more important than party politics.

Well, definitely B if it means we can save American lives. The party in power is always a transitory thing; some years will be democratic others republican. I'd rather see thousands of American soldiers safe and well and have a Republican dominated government than keep the democrats in power through losing American lives.
That said, "cut and run" is only going to create a greater fiasco which in the long term will probably hurt us more. It's going to be messy, but we need to stay and finish the job properly if we want to bring any semblance of stability to that country and region. Afterall we kinda did f it up a bit.

That's the difference between you and I. I want a solution in Iraq so people can quit dying. I don't care who's chances it increases or decreases come election time. I don't care who or what is done I want solutions, period. That's the whole problem here my friend, too much time spent on blame and re-election worries and not the problems at hand.

B. Because it is a win win situation.
Why?
1. Proves we, the democrats, were right from the beginning that Rumsfeld's 'plan' was going to be a disaster.
2. Hopefully saves American lives.
3. Hopefully a new direction will at least make resolving the Iraqi conflict possible.

I do not have to pick one he will do just as always and that is stay the course no matter how many study groups come up with something different for he has shown his inablility to adapt to changing situtations, most likely had he done his duty and served his country he would have been able to do this (adapt) as it is one of the things one learns from the military so it is abundantly clear that the choice is A

I would change the course! I don't care about Bush, I do about the body bags!
The Republicans have already lost the election, it doesn't matter what he does! The reality is there is no victory in Iraq, especially a military one!

Bush lied to Congress via witholding opposite information, and the typical public became into as quickly as already whipped right into a frenzy. the human beings on your checklist have been railroaded now not the different course around.

Third choice:
C. Bush should change course by withdrawing from Iraq and admitting that he lied to the American people and dismantled the US Constitution when he took an oath to protect it. Admit that he went in for oil only and constructed an Iraq Study Group to figure out how to improve chances of getting the oil in the midst of disaster and wholesale killings. Treat the Middle East people as equals and help to rebuild the area. Then move to Paraguay.
That is from an angry conservative idea, not a democrat.
