Subaru Impreza WRX or Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX.........

Which one do you like for;

Looks;
Speed;
Traction/Cornering;
Any thing else......

The Evo is obviously faster (as the Scooby is built to be cheaper), but the Subaru has a better AWD system and easily keeps up around backroads etc........
Plus I love the way the Scooby looks (more-so the 05 shape than the latest one) - the scoop is so much better than the little grills on the Evo. So, overall i'd say Scooby although for rareity i'd like to get an Evo instead, as everyone seems to have a Scooby where I live. Well, what do you think?

I am a bit bias as have a scooby btw lol.

I don't know anyone with an Evo, but have been in one and they are tackier - considering the Evo is more expensive i'd want it to be just as good quality - so Scooby wins on that count too!

Subaru, I Know they more common. But they are also more places that can fix them. Both are awsome cars. I have driven a STI but haven't yet EVO

Sounds like you mean the WRX and not the STI. Thus, the EVO will smoke the WRX.

Looks is all dependent on you and you said you like how the WRX looks.

The EVO is quicker 0-60, quarter mile, and top speed.

The EVO handles WAY better (any car magazine, person who has driven both for a period of time will tell you that)

But the WRX is about $6k - $8k cheaper and price is always an issue unless you're pretty freakin rich.

I would still go with an EVO....only because I'm biased and have an EVO but if you throw in the STI, then that's totally different. Either way, for the price, you can't go wrong with either a WRX, EVO, or STI.

Good luck and happy car hunting!

Evo is a bit edgier, but also more expensive.

WRX is more than enough for most people and a better price.

WRX STI has best of both worlds.

The Mitsubishi's looks have slightly more appeal to me than the Subaru. Truth is though they are both bare bones Japanese performance cars. I'd rather have an Audi, I don't care if something else is 0.03 seconds faster on the stopwatch, European cars generally have more useable torque across the powerband, they don't go out of style after 2 years and the sheet metal is thicker than tracing paper. They are built to last and just exude more quality. My personal perference. I'd take an S4 over either of these cars reguardless of what performance difference there might be. I don't live on a race track.

I think Mitsubishi's horrible reliability and quality problems would pretty much rule out even the Evo for me. I think their Fuso trucks are the only thing reliable they build anymore, so if it has to be between those two, I'd take the WRX.

I can only speak of USDM models but having owned an EVO and an STI I'll chime in. Both of these cars saw GT35R turbos. The EVO saw a hair over 500whp on pump gas and was lagalicious, the STi is currently sitting about 20whp behind where the EVO was, but is on boost MUCH sooner. Stock to Stock the evo handled marginally better than the STi does and had a more predictable feeling, but the STi is a much better suited car for normal use. On the STi, the gearing, the suspension, and the 2.5l are much better for daily driving. The EVO is twitchy, the seats are kidney bursters, and the interior looks like a 3 year old designed it.

It's more down to personal taste than anything and what you're in to. You can't go wrong with an EVO or an STi. If you're talking EVO RS or WRX... umm need you ask?

If you can cope with the stigma that's attached to owning a Subaru Impreza, and your a bit short on cash, go for the Subaru. If you want to stand out from the crowd, own something a little less common, look like you dont live on a council estate, and constantly smile every time you drive it, buy the Evo.

its all about what you want. Evo is faster and better track times (better handling) but the wrx is much hotter. If you're going to mod it, it doesn't really matter anyways. I love the interior on my wrx. its much better looking than the evo. Evo is all in the motor and less inside. The wrx is still plenty fast and the all black interior looks amazing and racing seats come stock and are incredibly comfortable. Subaru is also built with this premise from rally, "there is not a bad bolt turn on the vehicle." rear diffs can be changed in 15 min. if you plan to mod yourself, this is a great bonus.

It will have to be the evo for me, especially the fq360. But subaru is catching up too...so much so that the choice is pretty much boiling down to personal likes or dislikes.

The 2.3 litre mazda 6 mps has a sub 5 second 0-60 time, which will give the subaru a run for its money. Not totally relevant to the question, but it's an often overlooked choice.
