if Bush was waiting with you for the send-off, grinning widely, shoulders shaking, and giggling?

It would be appreciated if you would answer the question and not assume that the questioner is a "Dem" or liberal which I am not. It is just a question. My My such drama. Most of the answerers either have no kid or if they do, they are glad there is NO draft, or their kids are too old to serve. So stop trying to hard to fool everyone!

I would, as any parent would, be terrified at the prospect. But I also believe one must do his/her duty to his/her country. Provided the Bush Twins and other politicians kids were serving as well (and that working families aren't being singled out while those in power slip by as in Vietnam), I'd let them (not encourage them, but allow them) to go.

the opportunities that we may ever bypass yet another draft are slender to none. it truly is a completely unpopular topic between politicians, even interior the Republican ranks. It became delivered up many years in the past by one senator, and extremely with out delay blown aside by the others. The draft shouldn't ensue. yet enable's say it did. okay, so that you've been drafted. transferring in a overseas united states isn't an decision any extra. After Vietnam, our international regulations were replaced so the authorities can legally extradite drafted U.S. voters from pleasant countries. So in case you flee, you're going to might want to be sure out a thanks to commence over thoroughly and by no skill be got here upon by Uncle Sam. Hate to assert it, yet it really is nigh no longer accessible on the hot time. Your perfect wager is to sign in as a conscientious objector. you've an greater probability of heading off direct strive against that way. Or once you're determined, get injured to the point the position you may be a obstacle on any battlefield. you would nonetheless probable get stuck doing a clerical position, yet hi there, the pay isn't undesirable and also you would dodge strive against.

Whats the matter? Are you afraid the dems are going to bring back the draft? Rest assured it wont happen as long as President Bush is the president. And if you arent old enough to remember, when your drafted, you dont have a choice as to where you go, or what you do. Your parents dont have a say, and neither do you. You can thank all those soldiers that were drafted, for them serving thier counntry and defending our freedom, so that you may sit there on your computer and type nonsense.

Charles Rangel is trying to get the draft reinstated, not Bush, so place blame where it is due. As of now we have an a volunteer military and the draft is being used as a left wing scare tactic. (Former USMC)

If there were a draft, and my son's name was drawn, neither I nor he would have a choice in the matter. Of course he would go. His only other choice would be the life of a disgraced criminal.

Defending this country is a duty of every American. The political decisions are not always right but that is all part of life. After giving up so many lives under the bad leadership of the Viet Nam era, the current problems are trivial. Each conflict has shown poor decisions but the obligation to defend this country cannot be ignored.

You Bush haters are without shame or dignity. You are too pathetic even to pity. Curse Charley Rangel if you are upset about the draft. He is the low-life human skidmark that keeps bringing it up (He voted against it when it was brought to the floor for a vote).

Many countries have had their greatest moments provided by the average person being thrust into a perilous situation. It makes them unsung heroes. Look at both world wars.

If they wanted to go and believed in the cause I would support them. If they didnt want to go and didnt support the cause I would do everything possible to keep them safe.
