i don't really think people hate the military. they hate the destruction of life brought about by the military.
suppose, one day, we had a war and no one would fight? the military enable bloodshed and destruction.
as a parent, i would hate the military if my son or daughter were to die as a result of a useless war.

You just have to ask them why. I served in the Army for 8 years, and had to deal with many people who disliked the Army or USMC. I found that many times it was not the military that the generally disliked. Most disliked the conflicts or wars that we were involved in. Others did not like the discipline involved, the lifestyle, or the way that the military members are trained to think. I know that I was taught discipline, respect for my chain of command and the leaders placed over me, to love and take care of my family, to keep my integrity no matter what, self respect, loyalty not only to the Service but also to those I love and serve under, and personal sacrifice. To this day those things have influenced the decisions that I make even though I am no longer a soldier, no longer a soldier medic.
Some members of the Armed Forces however, (just like others in the civilian world) are just a crooked as can be. They must be weeded out from the good ones. Sometimes they fall through the cracks and these may be the soldiers that some people come in contact with. Just do your best to be the best Marine that you can be. It is an honor for you to serve. Remember that you are a member of the few and the Proud! Forget what a few negative thinking people say or do. Don't fret I in no way believe that the USMC is going anywhere in your lifetime or mine!
Do not forget that it is not the military that decides to go to war or not. It is our elected officials that represent our states that decide if the US uses the military to go to war! Those who are against military action or the way military funds are used should NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT AND VOICE THEIR OPINIONS TO THESE ELECTED OFFICIALS!
The Private First Class on the front lines in Iraq or Afganastan is just there to do the job, he or she had no say in whether or not they are at war or not. Keep your head up. I may not agree with the decision to go to war but I support the troops 100%. They need the support of all Americans. Just like they need the money for armour for protection, and weapons, food, water, and shelter while they are serving during a time of conflict. I served and my spouse is currently serving.

Calm down, sparky.
I'm a liberal. I don't hate the military. I don't hate the people who join the armed forces (in fact, my long-time boyfriend was a Marine). I respect that they are doing what I'm not mentally or physically able to do (defend the country). I respect that they join knowing that they will put their lives on the line should we go into another war.
I don't like how much money is spent on the military because I think some of those funds are being misallocated.
I don't like the attitude some people in the military take (though, I admit, it is a stereotype, but I have met some military men who hate women, hate Iraqis, etc.).
Hopefully, that gives you some insight.

i dont hate the military...
i hate the fact that some people think that the only way to solve problems is through violence and coercion...
i also resent the fact that the politicians who send our troops off to do their dirty work arent required to take an active part in "defending our country"...
ive met many soldiers and veterans who were very liberal (politically)...so why the liberal bashing?

I'm a civilian and I say DON'T LISTEN TO THEM! These liberals are not the real Americans, and we're here suporting you, rest assured. We're doing everything we can to make sure that Hillary won't get elected, so that she won't cripple the military like her husband, Slick.
Many of us all have felt very disturbed about the treatment of the Marines and the Navy man being charged, held and mistreated (in my opinion) at Camp Pendleton on the word of the enemy, for doing their job.

If you didn't go through hell for the past three months to support freedom of speech, then why DID you go? Do you only support freedom of speech for those who agree with you? You've pretty much answered your own question, really - many people hate the military because of their denigration of ANYONE who doesn't agree with them. If you want to receive respect, you have to GIVE respect - and "liberal idiots" doesn't cut it, Marine.

but you did so the US could become a one-party right-wing dictatorship?
you either did it for America - which includes free speech, pal, or you did it for another reason. It does not sound like you did it for America, so you can save the self-righteous BS.
PS Hating the military and hating misuse of the military are two differnet things. Not that people who bash free speech and hate America bother to care.
