eBay is your BEST FRIEND when looking for processors like P3 that are no longer made.
from what I know, P3's go up to around 1.3 GHz and I found out that most of them on eBay go for around$5-$10. 450MHz....its not the stone age anymore...
oh right! I almost forgot! if your computer is aging (pushing 4 years old) you may have a P3 that is designed to fit in the socket of a Pentium 2 (socket 1) those look like Sega Genesis cartages, the only way to find out is to open your computer and look. likeI said, look for the Sega Genesis cart or if you have a regular P3, then it has a fan and a heatsink on it. don't pull that off whatever you do! its square, all the things on top of it are too, so if thats what you see then look for the same kind on eBay or wherever you look.
Here's the wiki article on them, its got pictures of both kinds:

You will have to replace the processor itself if you are wanting a faster speed. Like the guy before me said, youd be better of just getting a new computer. You can pick up a P4 1.8ghz with like 256mb ddr and a 20 gig hd for less than 100 dollars on ebay and that would be leaps and bounds ahead of what you are using now.

What you are referring to is called "overclocking", that is when you make adjustments in the BIOS to the processors functions to increase the clock speed of the processor and make it run above the designed specs. Don't even try this unless you are prepared to buy a new processor or computer. You have to have a very good cooling system for the CPU also. Liquid cooling systems, or air conditioned computer cases are the most common methods.
