There are two ways of looking at success:
1. Through someone else's eyes.
2. Through your own eyes.
Different people have different yardsticks to measure success by. Wealth, power, popularity, adoration by others, control over others' lives, academic excellence, etc. The list can go on and on.
If you choose to live by their yardsticks, you get into what is called "the rat race", and usually come out a loser. You may not lose on your achievements, but you might lose out on the joys of living, health, peace of mind, selflessness, good natured behaviour, cheerful attitude. You can become self-centred, uncaring of others' feelings, degraded in character, and lose of moral and ethical values. This list also goes on and on. Everything has its price, and you cannot escape from paying it. You don't want to, but it's part of the trap you fall into while chasing success by others' standards.
The second way of looking at success is through your own eyes. Am I happy with what I have? Am I comfortable being myself? Can I calmly accept others' opinions about my "achievements" or "success" as THEY see it, and yet go about my work undisturbed? Am I fulfilling what I think is my life's mission, no matter how "humble" that mission may be in others' eyes? Do I see myself as doing something worthwhile during my waking hours, by which both I and someone else can benefit? Do I get peaceful sleep in the night? Is my wife/husband happy being with me? This list can also go and on.
Now you choose. Do you see yourself through others' eyes, or through your own? There is no right or wrong answer to this question. Both ways are valid ways of seeing yourself. It all depends where YOU find the most comfort.

Depends on who you talk to...
But for me it is about fulfilling the mission God has for my life and being the person He wants me to be even through for the most part I will fall short, but I will keep trying til I die.
