...that you love them?
Or do you just assume that they know it?

I used to pretty much assume that my family knew, though I always told my wife, every chance I got.

Changed my view on my family on 7th July 2005. London was rocked by a bunch of bombs - it was the UK's equivalent of 911. I live and work in London, and had I worked then where I work now, I might well have been on one of the tube trains that blew up.

Nobody could get hold of anyone that day - the mobile network was swamped, and then switched off. I, like plenty of others, had to walk across the shattered, scared city, to get to my wife, to get to a phone, to reconnect the spiderwebs to my family hundreds of miles away, who were frantic. We've never been particularly demonstrative in my family, emotion's always been seen as a bit mawkish. That day kinda changed us. We're still not blubbing touchy-feely people, but we can tell each other the important things now. And I think we look forward to seeing each other more...

My mom it took years before I could say it to her but when we talk on the phone I say it most of the time and my aunt every time we talk we say love you. It can never be said enough you never no when it will be the last time you see someone don't let those words go unsaid especially when you are mad

This afternoon on the phone. I tell my husband every day several times...and before he leaves for 'anywhere' and before he hangs up when he calls. I have lost two fiances in the past, and it's a good memory to know that the last thing I said to them was "I love you".

Today...I feel that life is too short to just assume. I want my loved ones to know without a doubt that they are loved.

It's not a constant but at least every other day. Never know when someone will be gone, plus it comforting to hear it I think.
