Not good. Do you have a back up anywhere - If they are saved to your sim, that is always best policy, then you can try to put your sim in another phone and retrieve them, if not suggest you get advice from your local store or online from your phone provider. Is it insured?

Take out the battery and SIM and dry them carefully. If you can take the phone apart, open the case and open up the circuit board as much as you can. You might need a torx screwdriver (in which case forget it, the phone will be well and truly dead by the time Maplin's open!) Dry everything you can get to with plenty of tissues (toilet paper is just as good). Now leave the phone in a warm dry place like an airing cupboard and visit the religion and spirituality section for a few days. If your prayers have been answered, you should be able to put back the battery and SIM and recharge the phone.
If the phone is completely dead, your SIM is probably OK. If you have a basic phone, the numbers are on the SIM and you can retrieve them by putting the SIM into another phone. (It needs to be an unlocked one, or one on the same network - but you'll need a new phone anyway!) If it's a smartphone, the information is stored on flash memory. It's probably still there, but getting at it is a bit more specialised.

Open the battey compartmet, and remove the battery. Place teh phone, the battery and the cover of the battery compartment on a paper towel. Soon as they're dry (perhaps over night), place the battery back in, and attempt to turn the phone on. If the phone still doesn't work, go to your sevice provider (I sure hope it's Verizon or just as good) and ask for a new phone. They should be able to some how, electronically transfer the contacts/phone numbers from the old cell phone to the new. I once lost a cell phone to the river. It had totally died.

Take off the back of the phone and take out the battery. Let it dry. You can use a hair dryer on it also. I've heard that some people have had luck by leaving it in their oven for 20 minutes or so on the low setting. All you need to do is get rid of the water on the inside before it starts to corrode the inside of the phone.

Open up your phone take everything out and lay it on a lint free cloth let your phone dry out, this will take a few days. Do this right away
For more risky but quick approach try this
You can set your blow dryer to high and dry the phone. Be careful not to get it too close as you could melt the plastic. Also take the battery out when you do this. It may take 10-15 minutes of intense heat to dry it. Incidently I use a blow dryer for much of my work. It's a great cheap tool.

Best option is to try and let it dry out. Take out the battery, sim card and any other removable bits (ie cover). Leave it in a slightly warm area (not too hot) on a towel or something absorbant. Leave it for a day or so and then try to turn it on. Make sure that battery contacts are dry before inserting the battery!!!

reverse phone number search compiles hundreds of millions of phone book records to help locate the owner's name, location, time zone, email and other public information.
Use a reverse phone lookup to:
Get the identity of an unknown caller.
Identify an area code.
Recall the name of a person whose number you wrote down.
Identify an unfamiliar phone number that shows up on your bill.

try to remove any fascias, blast with a hairdryer to get most of the water out, then put it in your airing cupboard or wrap it in a towel and put in on the radiator for a bit!!

Honey, you are out of luck. My son dropped my phone into the john and it died. I lost all of my info and numbers. Your best bet is to get a new one, or if you have insurance, have them pay for a new one.
