I know newborns sleep a lot but I just want to make shure how much "a lot" really is. My newborn sleeps all day and night when not feeding. And often fall asleep during feeding.

It is normal for them to sleep 16-20 hours a day for the first few weeks. Enjoy while you can. My son is 2 now and it is a struggle to get him to take his naps.

At this age, babies really only sleep. It is completely normal for a baby so young to sleep through a feeding but you have to make sure the child is still fed on schedule despite the fact that he/she is sleeping. I know it sounds mean but babies this young can really lose weight fast if not fed enough. I use to bathe my baby before the morning and the evening feeding and she hated the bath at that age but it always woke her up, gave her a bit of exercise and enabled her to eat all her food. Heck my girl slept through the entire baby shower with more than 100 people there.

As much as the want. Ever tried to argue with a baby, or force someone to sleep. Doesn't work.

Some babies sleep 20+ hours, some sleep less than 8. It usually works itself out by about 6 weeks. Then most babies sleep 14-18 hours.

This is very normal. Newborns sleep up to 18 hrs a day. don't worry about it, just take advantage of it and catch up on some much needed rest for yourself.

Sounds like a good content baby. Some newborns just can't get comfortable and cry all the time. Be thankful.

This is very normal, at the beginning they only wake up to feed and for a change of diapers. Believe me I have three and, although it depends on the baby, this is very natural. Don't worry there will be worse things to worry about later when they start walking. Good luck!!!

That just about encompasses it. MY daughter slept about 20 or so hours at that time. She was never up for more than 30-45 min at any given time.

My midwife told me about 16 hours a day. I think that's probably about the amount my son slept at that age, though it felt a lot shorter to me..! lol
