Many believe that as soon as the sectarian violence began that the war was lost beyond retrieval. If this is true, then we are fighting for a victory that cannot possibly be accomplished.

#1 An exit strategy is what is supposed to be determined BEFORE invading a country!
#2 A military victory can only be made when victory conditions are established ...see #1
#3 We are at a point where we will have to back up, BEFORE we can go forward!

Why?
Note that WW II ended in 1945, and we don't have an exit strategy. There are still troops in Germany and Japan.
Military victories in the modern world, though, don't look like they did in 1945, and are generally going to be accompanied by semi-permanent military suppressive action. So sit back and wait.

Whether you agree or disagree being there in the first place, it is a bad idea to leave Iraq in the situation it is in right now. All that will happen then is what happened in Afganistan after the USSR and some of our intelligence training the resistence to the USSR left- civil war resulting in a Taliban like government. Hasn't history taught us anything?

We slowly pull troops out as the Iraqi's take control of their country

no big brain buster,get our troops out before x-mass,let Iraq work threw their civil war,the oil will still be their,and far market price is freedom for Iraq,not puppet governments and peanut butter...save American lives and Iraq live too...bush can face the world and defend his actions,,if not at least America can regain its Honor and if that means sacrificing George, whats the question too it...cheers,,,let he that has no sin ,cast the first stone,,,but remember ,if sin is their we all cast stones,,,may god forgive us all....civilian
