I have see where a few of you believe it has no effect on your life. Your wrong. Do you know that google has come out and said that there is a microphone in your computer with which all the conversations in your computer room are record. They use keyword software to pick out certain conversations that you have and they listen. This is "in the interest of national security." ( this will also be used to send junk mail to you.)

The government is also admittedly making FEMA camps all over America. Don't be fooled they're concentration camps.

First of all lets define Patriot for the liberals in this community;

FROM WEBSTER:
Patriot: one who loves his or her country and supports its authority and interests

So now ask the question. Liberty has nothing to do with patriotism. Many restrictions are placed on the citizens of this country that hamper individual liberties to protect the citizenry.

Murder is illegal, but does that not restrict the liberty of
murderers?

How about drunk driving? My freedom to get lit and plow down people in my SUV is severally restricted by certain laws.

In the course of national interest, sometimes it is necessary to restrict the liberty of the citizens of the nation, in the interest of self-preservation.

How has the Patriot Act, really affected your life. I am a law abiding, tax-paying citizen of this great country and the Patriot Act has had no tangible effect on the day to day workings of my life. The only thing I can state as fact, is that I haven't been blown up by the enemies of my country. That is the single fact I can claim from my personal experience of the Patriot Act.

And to the liberal that posted before me. You are not a Patriot, by the definition of the word, you are not a Patriot. The interests of THIS country are of conquest of others for the betterment of of US. Look at the history. Of self preservation at all cost. Thats what we do thats the country you live in. And I love it. Go out and take it before someone takes it from you, thats the world WE live in.

The Patriot Act is not patriotic at all, it does not do anything except allow the government to circumvent the Constitution and set aside laws put in place to protect citizens from unlawful search, seizure, and imprisonment. It is the first step in ending the freedom that the country of the USA is famous for.

It violates the constitution and several FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS mentioned in it. Anyone who supports this bill is technically an anti-patriot. They have no right to insult liberals, they're supporting a bill that removes everyones basic rights. What rights do you have if you can be arrested and kept for no reason other than they think you somehow might be possibly involved in a terrorism act through your third cousin twice removed who lives 10,000 miles away and hasn't spoken to you in 15 years!

Conservatives want to remove the rights of anyone who's not a wealthy, white, straight, Christian. This is another example of that. They're hypocrites, racists, oppressors, and practically every other thing that was deemed awful throughout history. They're the slave-owners of the mid 1800s, and the controlling European religiously run governments of the middle ages.

It's actually the PATRIOT Act. It's an acronym for Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism. Whether or not it's patriotic is irrelevant. If you look at its full name, it's pretty good at what it does...legal or not.

It is not.

It is a perfect illustration of the saying that those who trade liberty for security deserve neither. I don't know which one of your presidents said this, but he was most certainly right, and US Americans will have neither, not until they start reclaiming their civil rights and stop the paranoia and hegemonial wars.

People used to like single US citizens when they met them, even if they hated their gouvernment, and that is changing now, even in Europe.

It's not patriotic. The reason for it's name is to bring into question genuine freethinkers that do not accept what the criminals do and label them as unpatriotic.

As with everything else that they have done.. They have failed miserably. I point you to Nov 7th.
