The only way to know is to rule out infertility on both sides. It is a scary thing to grasp and admit, but it may hold the truth as to why you aren't conceiving. You both need to take tests to rule out things such as inadequate sperm counts, FSH levels and maybe internal scarring in your uterus. If you both get a clean bill of health, it may just be timing of ovulation and or you may need some assistance to boast your ovulation. You did not mention your age but I know statistically speaking, it gets harder after age 35. Not impossible, just harder. But hang in there, get some fertility counseling and treatment and many handfuls of baby dust are being thrown your way! Good luck.

It depends on if your periods are occurring frequently enough and if you guys do it when it's ovulation time? If you've been trying for quite a while, the above suggestions are useful.

Additionally, if it has been quite a few years and you have tried the ovulation and temperature stuff, you could get a blood test (it's not available with all hospitals). One of my friends had been trying for years and eventually did IVF. She did some sort of blood test that checked if there were some antibodies or something rejecting something which prevented her body from allowing her to get pregnant. I think she ended up taking some additional medication to correct it and then she was ok to get pregnant.

Sorry I don't really know the full technical details and terms.

Good luck

well, how long have you been trying for. quite a few of my friends have taken approx. 1 1/2 years to get pregnant. try an ovulation predictor kit they let you know 12 to 36 hurs prior to when you are going to be ovulating so the you can really time it to the best possible time. my husband and i have been trying since last january and when i went to my doctor he told me try the ovulation kits for approx. three months and if you still don't have any of the desired results to call him and get my husbands's boys tested. but i thik they like to have you try for at least a year before you get any tests done cause it is really quite common to take lnger than you expected.
i know that it is pointless for me to tell you to try not to think about it because you end up seeing it everywhere, ( tv, your friends, shopping, etc.) but if you do have less stress it could be a happier time for you.
i hope uyou get good news soon,

Are you periods VERY irregular?? You could have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) which messes up your ovulation there causing you not to conceive. If your periods are normal, it could be infertility or your husband could have a low sperm count. Go see an OBGYN, they can help with any of the above issues.

It all depends, how long you have been TTC [trying to conceive] and also the stress of it can also put a damper on things. Just trying to relax, track your ovulation [below is a free download] it will help you track things and let you know when you are most fertile. I hope this helps. God Bless
