Bad things are not instinctive, from birth negative things have attracted our attention,and then we dwell on them thus creating more negativity. Consciously choose "I am postive minded" then watch you thoughts an do not allow negative thought to take root in your mind. Read the little book "As a man thinketh" by James Allen.

The reason bad things are instinctive is that everyone is born with sin, the world is a place full of sin and often the parent's sins fall on the their children. If they dont choose to rebel against sin and willfully be good then what hope do they have? And its mostly possible if they give their lives to Christ...

not all good things must be cultivated...in fact most good things are instinctive, most bad things must be cultivated (a taste for booze, a taste for tobacco, excessive lifestyle), ... a person must needs to mature and in so doing learn moderation in instinctive things and the appropriate times for certain things...

i think this is a tough question - if you are a believer in christ then you believe in the fall of man through adam and eve and in the inherency of sin. however, if we are made in god's image, and if god is all that is good then we have to believe there is some good in us as well. i don't think all good things necessarily need to be cultivated, but only through the grace of god. we are capable of good if we are looking to christ to lead us. i think bad things are inherent, but are also a choice. while they may be instinctive, i think the environment also has a role in how we act insitnctively. it is our choice - we will never be perfect, and i think it is futile to try to be.

i think its the other way around. i think everyone is born good but it depends on how we are brought up, what were you exposed to that influenced you to act the way you do ? Society has made us curous of the bad things. or just our own life.
