Anyone know of a good college for engineers? I'm good at math & science, and want to do something like engineering. I live in Michigan but don't have a problem going out of state. Just wanted a couple of suggestions, I've got about 3-4 years before actually going to college.

The best engineering schools are MIT, Cal Tech, Stanforc and University of California at Berkeley. However, there are lots of good engineering schools.

It is the one area where public universities are usually better than private universities. I've already mentioned Berkeley -- but all 11 schools in the Big Ten have outstanding engineering programs. Georgia Tech is another public university with an excellent engineering program.

You might want to go to www.princetonreview.com -- they have a tool there where you indicate your interests and your abilities. It then spits out a list of appropriate schools for you.

If you stay in Michigan, you have quite a few choices. University of Michigan is an obvious choice but there's also Michigan Tech which has some good engineering programs. If you'd like to go out of state but stay in the midwest area, some schools you might want to check out are Case Western, University of Illinois - Urbana/Champaign, Washington University -St. Louis, and Ohio State. When you're getting ready to apply for school, it would be a good idea to visit these schools and get a sense of what they are like and what the academic program will be like in person. Also, I'd recommend you go to a school that has a wide variety of good programs just in case you end up not liking engineering after your first few semesters. Good luck!

The University of Michigan has a strong engineering program. You'd do fine there.
