Maybe you got detention because you think it's stupid and you say "damn" way too much for a kid in school. To answer your question - NO - that has never happened to me before. But I have noticed that when I have attitude about something - things seem to go less and less in the direction I'd like them to go.

I have no idea how old you are but my 13 yr old daughter knows that if I ever caught her cursing the way you are, she'd get her mouth washed out with soap. She got an in school suspension for "fronting" with another girl and using the B* world...She lost ALL her electronic devices for 2 weeks. I am not stupid enough to think she doesn't say them but she learned when not to..
Not to mention there has to be more to the story then the fact you just forgot your homework that day. How many times was it really???

Are you in High School? Yeah, I've had those experiences getting detention and getting grounded because some teacher lost my home work and said I never handed it in. Don't get me wrong, at times I didn't do homework. But I hate when older adults think they are always right, especially when it comes to younger adults. Don't worry, one day you'll make more money than them, and chances are they'll end up working for you and following your commands!

I once got two detention slips for the same offense, just from different teachers (there were two classes watching a movie together, and both teachers saw my friend whispering to me and gave us detentions). Then I forgot to show up for my detention, and they bumped it up to a longer one! Arg, I was so mad!

That sounds strict but maybe the teacher thinks that in detention, you will get it done. In the future, try to communicate why it wasn't done with legitimate reasons. Maybe forgetting because you were celebrating a family or cultural event. That way, you shouldn't get such a strict punishment.

Dude... set your sights a little higher in life. Homework is relatively easy compared to what is coming at you in life. If you can't handle that... well, keep practicing using "damn".

Bet you will not forget your math next time. She is making a point that you need to have your work done. So now that you have 3 or 4 days use that time to get it done.
