Im struggling - done all the searches and everywhere is out of stock, so I would appreciate any help at all to find a Wii at a reasonable price in the UK. Ive looked on Ebay and they are selling around £300 mark, which is WAY too much for me to pay - ideas of an alternative present for a 12yr old would also be appreciated :-)

You'll be lucky to get one at this stage... I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.
My nine year old wanted a Wii, but said a PSP would be a good alternative if not - would that be an idea?

it's just a marketing ploy by nintendo to make people go crazy for their console... people always want what they can't have. it happened with the ps2 a couple of years ago and a few of the others too. then all of a sudden they'll magic up a massive shipment to all the shops just in time for xmas! i hope u find one at the right price soon enough. apparently the ds lite is really hard to get hold of too at the mo.

Sounds like £300 is pretty cheap for the Wii. Why not get a Nintendo Ds or PSP?

If you cant find one in the shops and dont want to use ebay then you're out of luck, buy the kid a book instead, it will last longer, a Wii will be forgotten abput within a few months
