first of all, make sure your motherboard can support a core 2 duo chip. and it all depends on what you will do with you pc. the core 2 duo will definatly give a great improvment over your single core processor. if you multi task alot, go with the 2.13, its the speed of the processor, but if you mainly use it for internet and word and exel and stuff like that, go wit the 1.83. the 2.13 is just a faster speed than the 1.83. if you play games like half life and quake, get the faster one.

Well I don't happen to have any benchmarks on me that compares all three, so you are going to have to take my word on this, I have a good working knowledge of current processors. Either of the Core 2 Duos will be a substantially noticeable upgrade over what you currently have, so it is definately worth it to upgrade. As for the difference between the two Core 2 Duos, there is a difference. not a huge one, but in my judgement worth the extra $50.

As the one guy mentioned, if you are planning to use your current motherboard, make sure it is compatible with the Core 2 Duos, and having the right socket does not necessarily mean its compatible.

Core 2 is dual core, has AMD64 architecture (64-bit), runs cooler, uses less energy (for laptops), and is faster in general for all things.
