Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) has proposed a Constitutional Amendment changing the eligibility requirements for president. He would remove "natural born citizen" and replace it with the requirement that the president be a natural born citizen or a naturalized citizen for at least 20 years.

It's a Republican Party move to try to let Arnold Shwarzenegger run for President. I disagree with it. I think it's a good idea for the leader of our nation to have been born in this country. It's about loyalty. I like Arnold Shwarzenegger as a person- though I don't agree with all his political views-, and I don't think he would be a traitor, but I still think the rule should stand. Also, I support Senator Sam Brownback (R-Kansas) for President in 2008. I want Alan Keyes to run, but I don't know if he has enough support. Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney would be a cool President, and I would put John McCain in fourth place. I would not support Rudy Guiliani at all! I am from Virginia, but I did not want George Allen to be President because he was a good Senator and I wanted him to remain as our Senator. Of course, that was before the "macaca" thing.

It has it's merits. Being a naturalized citizen for at least 20 years means spending the last 25 or so years in this country.
