I have been attending college since summer 2006 but I dont like it at all. First, there are not more than 50 students and the majority of them are 22+, I am only 18. Also nobody likes the sport that i like which is soccer. They only talk about football or hockey on break or during free time, therefore I cant have a conversation with any of them. I am planning in transferring to another college that has a lot of students, soccer team, and on-campus housing. The only problem is that If I get accepted in that college I wont start until fall 2007.so what should I do? stay in the current college, or drop out and get a full time job to save money while I wait to be transferred? and if drop out will this affect my financial aid?

It sounds like you'll be a lot happier at the other school. In the meantime, it might be best for you to work and earn a little bit of money to help with college costs.

I've had to drop out of college before for various reasons. Once I had a car wreck, and the other time was for health reasons. It never caused me any problems with my financial aid.
If you are out of school for more than 6 months, you might have to start repaying on your loans, if you have any. But as soon as you go back to school, you won't have to pay those anymore.

I have a degree from one college, and then decided to go back years later for a second degree from another college. I was able to get financial aid again with no problem. So I imagine the financial aid would be no problem.

Here's something else to consider though on the other end of this issue:
By the time you are nearing the end of your studies, you may wish you had stayed in school so that you can finish as soon as possible. It sounds like you are at the beginning of your college "career" and it might be good to stay at your current school just to get through some of those general requirements that everyone has to take. That way, you can get some of those out of the way and really enjoy your new college better.

Good luck in making your decision, and I'm sure that whatever you decide, things will start to get better for you soon.

Wow. Sorry you are having such a hard time. But, it also sounds like you have the situation under control...happier days ahead.

Your financial aid question. If you are getting aid right now, there are two things to consider. If you stop going to school right now, you will have to either defer you loans or start paying right away. You just can't stop going to school and not start paying your loans. With that said, some loans only allow you so many deferments, so I would really look into this. Regardless, if you decide to stop, you should not have trouble getting aid again unless you are behind on your payments.

Education is important. It opens so many doors. But, you won't learn anything if you aren't happy. You are old enough to decide what is right for you based on the knowledge you have about yourself and the situation. Just don't forget how hard it might be to go back after you leave.

Good luck.

Drop out, work a bit and go to the college that appeals to you. That's only eight months off. Honestly, your school sounds a little weird. All fifty students (even the girls?) talk about football and hockey ALL THE TIME when they're not in class? It sounds like a bunch of freaks to me! Maybe you need to take the initiative to move the conversation away from sports- there are other things happening in the world!

Are you going to college to have a good time or to get an education?

Nowhere in your question do you mention anything about that. Your priorities aren't in the right place. This makes me think that you might not be ready for college. Taking time off until you transfer could make you more mature.

However, facing your current situation with a more positive attitude would make you more mature.

Never mind the retards at your school that you have nothing in common with. Stay in school and study hard, you may never get the chance again.

Chances are, however, that you have things in common with your classmates/schoolmates...you just don't know it yet.

There's a lot more to other students than yapping about football or hockey...give them a chance.

As long as you are staying in school, one semester off shouldn't be too bad for you - you can save your money and get job experience. Make sure you do go back next year, though, because many people think they'll take a semester off and never go back. Good luck.

If you quit and get a job, my bet is that you never go back. I think you'd be better off staying with it until you can transfer. Life's not always about "enjoying" what you're doing. Sometimes it's like medicine - you have to take it to get better.
