I asked a Q earlier about what word offends you the most, although not surprised, I am dismayed at how many people take offence at everyday words such as c*nt and ****. I love those words, whats wrong with them??? I use those on my nearest and dearest and nobody gets stuck up their own as* about it! Whats the prob, if you know you are actually none of those things, why should you care?

C*nt is a very old word, even used in "The Canterbury Tales" by Geoffrey Chaucer. It was only the Victorians who came up with the words which were acceptable in polite conversation as the start of the middle classes arrived. It is a word FFS and why should it shock you? Old English words? If it's good enough for Chaucer and Shakespeare then they are good enough to me.

Maybe they just don't like being called anything other than there name. I'm an old country girl and I used to not mind the hill billy jokes until I worked with a man that played on the computer everyday and he'd call me in just to rub them in my face. I finally had to set him straight. Now I hate hill billy jokes because they talk about the people I love the most in the world, my family. It's not that I'm humorless, just fed up with idiots.

I don't care but because you asked and are looking for fuel, some consider it disrespectful to women. Not my place to give judgment, if you're comfortable doing so, that's your right. I personally don't use those words and never have. I'm assuming you're in your early years- 14-21, so I don't know you and besides, why should you care what people think- you are who you are, if some can't accept that, then they have an issue that requires looking into. These are just my opinions, take them any way you wish.

There are people on this forum that will take offence about anything regardless of its content. It's just they are such miserable so** and don't have a life that this is their only source of pleasure.

I don't know....I have a good sense of humor in my opinion but I am offended by curse words (sometimes). People are different and come from different backgrounds. That's just the way things are.

I choose not to swear, but do not care who does, if I see a really vulgar question or content, I just don't click on it, no thumbs down, no action from me, this is just a fun site to, trying hard for myself to stop getting yahoo e-mail notices, about there guide lines

Because everyone has their own struggles and trials and tribulations. What is offensive to one person may not be so offensive to another.
Try to make others feel welcome and graced with your presence and you won't have to worry about offending.
Those particular words have negative connotations and serve to bring the atmosphere down. Use words that lift people up and you can't go wrong.

It's like when I say, for example, "Up or Down? I prefer down" And then ALLLLLLL the people who think I was wrong to say 'down' give me thumbs downs!

because people are prudes and like to tell themselves they are better than every one else by nit using cuzz words.
Which is untrue because if they stubbed their toe they'd probably yell out "f****"
just like the rest of us. I pay no mind to prudent people who pretend to be proper
but judge everyone elses vocabulary,its not 1680! Freedom of speech! For everyone!
