Well, first of all you only have to be 17 to go to an R-rated movie so right there you don't have to worry about any 17 year olds. If you buy the tickets and just hand them out I seriously doubt that anyone would hassle you. Hopefully, you are only thinking of 16 or 17 year olds. Younger than that should have their parents' permission to go to an R rated movie.

Depends on the theatre. Some chains are more picky than others. AMC's "official" stance is that NO you cannot. To have someone under 17 enter a rated R movie, they have to be with someone 21 or older. Not 18. I learned this when I tried to take my brother to the movies. I was 19 he was 16. It also depends on who is tearing the tcket stubs that night. What you can try is having the 18 year old buy two (or however many) and then take your chances when you go to enter the theatre. The person might let you in. If it is opening weekend for a bigger name movie, however, the bigger theatres tipically check at the door and it probably won't work. Good Luck.

it probably depends on laws of individual states...in virginia if you are trying to get into a R rated movie every person needs to be over 18 and they ask for identification for every person that you are buying a ticket for unless you are the parent or relative of the under 18 parties

don't think so!! but my philosophy is that even though someone is 18 i don't think that they are obviously mature for a mature movie and the other way around however if it saysless then 18 not allowed then less then 18 not allowed!!!

Technically no. Its suppose to be a parent or guardian. Usually they don't care, but once in a while there is a teenage kid working in the theater with delusions of power. There are circumstance that the will question it.
