First , i would get some glove conditioner and cover the gloves with conditioner, then i would get baseballs and put them in the pockets of the gloves and form the fingers around the ball, securing with a strong rubber band ...leave them that way for a day or two...this procedure conditions the gloves and forms a good pocket in the gloves. we use to use goose grease for our gloves, which was sold in tins, but the newer conditioners, sold at sporting goods store work well........good to see kids playing baseball....

I got a new glove last summer, and purchased a foam called Dr. Glove from Wal-Mart to help break it in. You spray the foam all over the glove, and work it into the leather. Afterward, you put a ball in the pocket of the glove and leave it wrapped up for a day. The next day the glove is well broken in. You are supposed to spray the foam again and then go play catch or whatever, but I really don't think that it's necessary. I thought this worked really well and would recommend it. It's pretty inexpensive from what I remember as well, less than 5 dollars, and their is enough foam to treat the glove many times.

Do yourself and them a favor and take them back and buy a glove that has softer leather that doesn't require the old school way of breaking the leather in. They develope a pocket faster and are easier on smaller kids to play with due to flexibility.

in case you're able to desire to soften the glove up straight away, you're able to purchase this cream/foam to rub everywhere in the glove, interior and out, and then bake it interior the oven for a quick volume of time as according to the learning on the can. i don't advise doing this too in lots of cases because it is going to soften the glove quite plenty to that end dropping most of the padding interior the palm. even though if, it does artwork extremely properly and straight away. the superb way, like others have reported is basically to apply it as in lots of cases as available besides as oil it up placed a ball in it and wrap it up tight. this might style a stable pocket for the ball and nonetheless keep the integrity of the glove.

Get an old pot and pour in a can of motor oil. Dip the gloves in the oil - briefly - then put a baseball in each glove and tie rope around the gloves. Let them dry until the oil has soaked into the leather.

Why the hell would you want to break a new mitt? Maybe I am understanding the question wrong?
Aren't you happy that Andy Pettitte is back on the Yankees?
Also, consider getting a Rawlings glove. They are the best gloves in gloving balls, and they are used by the MLB players in pro-ball.

I wish I knew the perfect way to break in a glove. I hate the creams because they taste awful (I like to chew my gloves). I've tried a combo of freezing, baking, tenderizing, water and sleeping with a ball tied in the pocket with it between my mattresses. Every glove seems to be different and takes different length of time to work in. If I could only stop chewing my gloves... (-:

Oil it well, then put a baseball in the palm and rubber band or tie it shut. After this I always put it under my mattress and sleep on it a few nights and then go catch with it.

the glove conditioners on the market work good but remember to break it in you must play catch for hours that's the only way but do oil the glove everyday but keep the oil off the laces.

oil it up, put a baseball in it and throw some rubber bands around it, wait a day or two and repeat the process, then start playing catch extensively. AND HAVE FUN! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
