Another voting one huh? Well nobody is wrong again unless you say bah scumbag or something like that.

I like Christmas because That is what it is all about. We don't exchange Holiday Gifts we exchange Haunnakah or Christmas Presents. Kwanzaa is made up in my lifetime. None of my African American friends even know what it is or why or how to celebrate. If it is Thanksgiving we say Happy Thanksgiving right and Happy Halloween or Happy Birthday.

I think the whole we need to ignore religion or homogonize life to not insult people is insulting. If you are offended by Merry Christmas you need to re up your Zoloft or have a shot or something to loosen up man.

PS Happy Holidays is generic. Do you buy generic food? Do you sing Holiday Carols? Do you have a Holiday Tree?

It depends. If it's December 24 or 25, "Merry Christmas" would be in order. However, if it's only December 3, "Happy Holidays" seems more appropriate. I'm an atheist, but I'm not offended by either, and I certainly have no problem with stores putting up "Merry Christmas" signs and banners and Christmas trees during the month of December. After all, it's the Christians they're trying to sell all their stuff to, so why not tip their hat in the direction of the holiday that tempts Christians into spending all that money?

On the other hand, in the interest of fairness, if Christians are going to use all their power to FORCE stores to say "Merry Christmas" to anyone and everyone for the entire month of December, then I think it's only fair that they also honor the rest of the holidays by name. So that means when it's the holy Muslim month of Ramadan, those stores should also be saying "Blessed Ramadan" for each and every day of that lunar month.

Or we could all just come to our senses and not get all upset about what stores do or do not say and simply say what we personally feel like saying when it seems most appropriate.

I prefer Merry Christmas...but I say Happy Holidays out in public so as to include everyone in my well wishes for the Holidays. I send out Christmas cards though cause I do not know anybody who does not celebrate Christmas.

I prefer to hear Happy Holidays because it's like saying have a good season, and saying Merry Christmas is like saying just have a good day cause christmas is just one day and holidays is all season.

Merry Christmas, because it is a special holiday and it gives more Christmas-like atmosphere.Happy holidays is just plain happy holidays, the first thing that comes to your mind is NO WORK! or NO SCHOOL! and that is it,but with Merry Christmas, that makes you think of snow, santa clauses, love, family, friends and etc.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!! Let the cozy atmosphere of this beautiful holiday fill you with joy!

I prefer Merry Christmas because I celebrate Christmas. For my firends who do not celebrate Christmas, I get cards that wish for Peace on Earth or Happy Holidays.

I dont care really if someones says either one. People make big deals over what, someone said happy holidays to them in the mall instead of Merry Christmas. Its a greeting. Its a nice gesture no matter which is said to you.

personally I like to hear "Merry Christmas"
because I am a christian, who celebrates Christmas.

however I try to stick to the "happy holidays" when I don't really know the recipient of my gesture.
Once said something Christmassy to a Jehovah's witness, almost got my head bit off.
Don't really care who I offend by saying "Merry Christmas" just don't want to have to listen to people who disagree with me.........did I mention I am selfish?
