What should you do first, and how should you plan it out?

Start it simple.

1) What's your book about?
Is it a fantasy, Sci-Fi, Hystorical Fiction and what time do you want it in? Think these things and then write them down.
2) Get information?
Look up stuff for your book, names, places, events, whatever you can find, these should help.
3) Oraginze your book.
You have all the info and ideas, time to put them together and form a plot. Think of a moral for your story and who the main charecter(s) is(are). Write it out in an outline or summary.
4) Start writting.
Now that you have all the stuff together you should be able to come up with a book. Start where you want and when you want and pace yourself too, don't go too fast.
5) Go over it.
Make sure it makes sense together. If your having trouble deciding if you should change something or not, ask someone for help. Have an editor that you really know like a friend or family member, someone you trust.
6) Give it out.
It's time to publish it. Hopefully the person you ask to publish your book likes it and thinks the public will like it too.

Good luck to you. I hope you write an excelent novel. ; )

Start with the advice Ian gives you and if you find that there is NO way you can live without having the printed word coming from the ends of your fingers, then find a good critique group and LISTEN to what they say. There are writers groups all over the world, and internet. But becareful.

You may find that you need to do some reading on the how to's, and take some creative writing classes, but remember that for every rule in writing there's someone who's successfully broken it.

A good book that is well written will find a publisher, but it takes years and you still won't make money on it-- don't write because you want to be famous or rich, write because you have too...

Now, put fingers on keyboard and type-- (I started with pen and paper).

Writing a novel is easy. Set aside thirty to sixty minutes a day. And write during that time. Write whatever comes to mind with the thought that you could change things later on. The tough part, however, is to get a novel professionally published. Only one in more than hundred novels written are professionally published by a publishing house that gives you money.

Ill put this in list form, not paragraphed like i usually do

1. Think of a genre
2. Brainstorm ideas for the plot
3. WRITE THEM DOWN
4. (optional) I find reading some of your favorite authors books helps
5. Develop your characters
6. Think of a basic beginning, middle, end. (Bob finds a pizza, he eats it, he dies from food poisoning)
7. Begin writing!
8. Reread and Revise
9. Reread and have someone else read it (I shouldn't be a family member or someone that cares about you, they wont answer honestly about how good/bad it is)

Remember, DO NOT START WITH "Once upon a time"

Write down your basic idea(s) first. Develop your characters. Write a outline of how you want the chapters to flow....then write, edit, rewrite, until you have it flowing, easy to read. Then let someone objective read it and tell you their honest opinion.

Query the publisher you have in mind with a good query letter. Check google for more info on this if you've never written a query letter before....sometimes they are KEY to getting your foot in the door!

If the publisher says they want to read your manuscript, send it in and good luck!

Is there a favorite song you like? I base my stories on a song that I like and go with it! I'm writing one now that's called 'By the Light of the Moon' and it's based on the song 'Georgia Rain'. Why don't you just find a family story add some stuff and delete some stuff and there you have it! Hope you have a fine time writing!

first you need to know what your writing about. If it is non-fiction than this won't help much but if you are writing a fiction story, then i would make a web or make a list of things that will happen in order like this
1.met a witch
2. tooken hostage ect.

Well if you have an idea you start with that. You write it all down and start to build an outline for it.

Just start on how you feel and then go with it or you can just do what you are dreaming about or what have happened to you in life that is sad or happy. Make it go because i think you will do great.
