I have a ferret, they are extremely curious and playful animals. They can go through anything there head can fit through that means they can get into a lot of places, Under fridge, in dressers, etc. They actually sleep a lot of the day away but when they are awake they are very active. Ferrets are known for bad biting but that is because they have very tough skin, therefore what may be a playful bite to each other might be a bleeding bite to you. As long as you properly correct them it should be ok, grabbing the scruff of their neck a little shake and telling them a firm no works, i believe even a -light- flick to the nose can also work. Mine is so active she usually doesn't cuddle or want to be picked up a whole lot. I did have an older one before here though (bought older one at SPCA) and she was cuddly. They will also go in a litter box with cat litter in their cage or on the ground if you got them running around, as long as they are trained. But they do already pick a corner they like to go in so if you put the litter box there that should work alright. A female is ok as long as she is fixed you don't need to worry about the pregnancy thing. Oh and i believe they can live to about 10 not exactly sure though.
Anyways if you like an active, curious pet then you should like a ferret (=.

Ferrets are great pets for the right people. I wouldn't say they're for everybody.
They're a lot of fun, full of crazy kittenlike antics. They're nippers though, and very excitable, so they're not always a good mix with small children. They're very social and like to have buddies, so it's not ideal to keep just one. You also really need to be able to have them loose in the house about 4 hours a day on minimum because they don't do well in the enclosed space of a cage like a mouse or hamster. It's VERY important to ferret-proof your house, as they can squeeze through some unbelievably small spaces and it's no fun having to tear the house apart only to find them napping behind the refrigerator.
Ferrets bought in petstores are going to have had their scentglands removed, but they still have a very strong, distinctive odor so make sure you're okay with it. They can be litter trained, but it's not as easy as with cats and you're probably going to be cleaning poop outta the corners.
They're prone to cancers and I really recommend that you find a vet with ferret experience and that you keep up with routine checkups. They're also nocturnal so you might not want to keep their cage in your bedroom unless you're a sound sleeper, or better, work a nightshift. They live 5 to 7 years.
Oh, I almost forgot! They're actually illegal to own in some areas so you should call your local Wildlife Department to find out.

Well, since I own one I'll tell you this. It is wise to own one if you love cats or hamsters because they are a combination of the two a Cat-hamster.
Their personality is so cute and they're a lot of fun, and they make you smile. They are hilarious to watch romping around and hiding under furniture and darting out to touch your feet which they do often when let out of the cage. Well another topic arises they do live anywhere from 5-12 years only if they are taken care of. They do have a problem in some type of gland that they have in later years. But all this aside you will absolutely love a Ferret they are cute loving and smart.

I have a Dwarf Ferret and they are good pet. They do smell and reguardless of what people say the smell is always there. you can by shampoo but the nice smell won't last. They like to steal and hide damn near anything they can drag lol. but all-in-all they are good pets. its a pet that you have to put in alot of time (but well worth it). Here is a link that may help you out.

stretched out rodents!
They are good pets, but they are very curious/playful and will get into EVERYTHING if not watched. They are burrowers so if you have any open areas in the walls, like around pipes, they will get in there. If you have a cat, be careful as your cat may consider them lunch.....but I have seen cats and ferrets play with no problems.
Unlike mice, hamsters and gerbils, they need attention and require maintenance........They live about 2-6 years

If you get a ferret it should be a boy because a girl will die if it doesn't get pregnant when she needs to.They live 7 to 15 years long.
