Well, I personally don't think that burping or farting loud in public can be considered bad habits. I think that its more bad luck and timing than anything else. If anyone knows a way to control burping, please let me know! I am very much like you, I simply can't sit completely still. I either have to be moving my legs, rocking, or doing something with my hands. I don't consider it a bad habit though, just a little case of OCD.

Hey that rocking back and forth and shaking your leg up and down could seriously be "Restless Leg Syndrome" aka RLS. My brother has been diagnosed with that and I do those same things but haven't been to the doctor for it. When I was growing up I used to shake my leg up and down during piano lessons without realizing it until one day my teacher said "I'm glad you stopped that. I was getting ready to go get your mother". I was maybe 10 and will never forget that.
I burp really loud only when drinking beer. I am the champ in my house for that. Farting is bad for girls but do that to my kids when the husband isn't home - very funny LOL. No nail biting, no nose picking but do curl my hair on my finger - mostly when bored.
My 9 yr old daughter chews with her mouth open - I tell her at EVERY meal 'chew with your mouth shut'. Her dad is almost 35 and STILL chews with his mouth open (we're divorced).

there's a superbly complicated rationalization based in theories of habit and discovering that i'd desire to grant you, however the in need of it incredibly is, maximum undesirable conduct are on the instant worthwhile, and unfavourable outcomes, nevertheless often severe, are an prolonged way off. The advantages from good conduct is often in the back of schedule (and each so often, the good habit is incredibly grotesque contained in the quick term), or is something which you would be able to desire to verify to take exhilaration in in line with its affiliation with different friendly issues. It has to do with how worthwhile or punitive the implications are, how quickly you will get carry of those beneficial or unfavourable outcomes, and how probably the implications are occasion: habit of eating chocolate. advantages: Tastes good, feels good. tremendously worthwhile, on the instant worthwhile, and certain to be worthwhile. Punishment: earnings weight. in the back of schedule, and for a lot of human beings, purely reasonably punitive and not a assure (e.g., "i will continuously workout", etc.) you will often take the on the spot, particular advantages, and eat the chocolate, except the punishment, "gaining weight", is perceived as greater punitive, much less in the back of schedule, or greater of a fact. that's why "loss of existence of lung maximum cancers" isn't that a good number of a motivator for individuals to provide up smoking -- even though it incredibly is incredibly punitive, it is not a fact and that's contained in the a ways distant destiny. collectively as smoking a cigarette now's powerfully, continuously, and on the instant worthwhile and forestalls very grotesque part outcomes.

My view on a habit ( Bad & Good ) is purely technical .
A habit is what you have done 30 or more times in such a way that your mind has accepted it firmly . When same situation rises your mind recalls the memory of what you had done previously .
30 is an approximate no. of time but generally all of us get it firm in our minds as we do it 30 times . More & more repetition makes it even stonger .
Our Mind is always obedient to us & what we think it opposes us is the mistakes we did repeatedly .
Mind then follows the law of momentum - " Steady will tend to remain steady & Moving will tend to remain moving "
Still , We have a way of altering any of our habits !
What it needs is repetition of its opposite process 30 or more times
or repetition of what you want instead of that habit , 30 or more times !
Above all when you try to change a habit , FAITH to succeed is Highly Important .
I Have the Bad Habit of Eating Chocolates repeatedly :))

Biting my nails. They will all look nice and are showing the white tops then I break one and I bite the rest short. It's a habit that I just can't seem to break.

Interesting question...I think we all have a bad habit or two....but your list implies you are very young and think you are doing something wrong when it is probably very minor in an adult scope. But to answer your question.....I can not seem to stop dipping tobacco even though I know it is destructive and not attractive. I am as considerate as possible but still....

I bite my nails. It's a really dirty habit, I know but I can't stop doing it and I've been doing it ever since I turned one.
