I am not against any sports channel but my point is that doesnt this create an unwanted monopoly? Shouldn't sporting bodies give rights for individual events rather than whole 5- 10 years??

True, I agree with you. This causes monopoly to creep into the game. Ideally, the board of each country should get to decide who broadcasts in their country.
