As I have stated in other posts, most Christians are involved in Churches that are part of the religious right (RR from now on). The RR likes to get people worked up about hot button issues like abortion and gay issues. Truthfully Jesus was not uptight and had little to say on these issues. I think the RR likes to tell people what to do and keep its followers (who are programmed to do what they are told) in a state of fear. Without it how can the RR people who follow W and Pat Robertson keep their people under control.
I am a Christian but am not in any way associated with the RR. I think Jesus would like the RR as much as he liked the Pharisees,

I don't know about scared, but they are not the most uptight (that belongs to the homosexuals). They get really offended, really fast.
