Casino Royale for straight action flick.
Deja Vu, for action with a little bit of thought to it.
Blood Diamond if you like your action with a political bent to it (If you liked the Constant Gardener, this is a good bet, but it's very violent.)
Bobby for interesting history and backstory, especially if you and your guys are liberal-type folks.
Stranger Than Fiction if you like unusual movies (Did you like Adaptation? then this is the movie for you!) Will Farrell stars in this one.
Tenacious D if your dad is very young at heart and likes rock music.

Casino Royale, because Its ACTION PACKED for both of the men in your life and you will enjoy too. But try this movie and let me know how it went. If you saw it then try De'JaVu, If you saw that then try the movie coming on the 15th starring will smith. True story movies are always a winner.

Just make sure whatever you see doesn't have any nudity or love scenes, that will just make everyone involved feel awkward. I think Eragon looks like it might be good, or A Night at the Museum
