I know the history of Freemasonry, so I don't need general information. My fiance is considering joining the local Freemasons, and I'm basically interested in what the Freemasons do today. I know you Masons out there are technically not supposed to share your inner workings with me, but maybe your wives and girlfriends can share THEIR experiences!

I am a mason. The only negative you will see is that a few times a month he will not be home. And that is if he chooses to be active at the lodge. Attendance is not minatory. So he will never have to go if he don't want to.

There will be many positives gain to your life. For example this year my girlfriend is helping a mother buy Christmas presents for her twin daughters. The women's husband died in October leaving her with twin 7 yr old daughters and no job. My lodge collected money for this family and my girlfriend is the contact person to the mother.

So basically you and your fiance will be in control of the way freemasonry effects your life. Every lodge is different I have heard many bad stories about the way other lodges run things. But I can tell you if he is unhappy with his lodge he can join or visit other lodges until he finds one that fits he life and does the types of things he joined the masons hoping to do. Feel free to e mail me with ANY questions you may have.

That is a great answer above me. Couldn't have said it better my speculative brother. I just want to add a little here...

Your husband will have an interview if he petitions with a proper sponsor. He can request that it be done at home with your presence. This allows both of you the chance to ask questions, and it helps. It is designed so that you both will understand what role this will play in your lives. Your husband then can decide if he would like to join, and you won't be left wondering if he is o.k.

Take care, and tell him congratulations for me if he proceeds.
