Because most rich people did not make the money all by themselves! They usually had a whole lot of employees they screwed to make money off of their backs! Just take the Oil companies!

Currently they are getting tax refunds taken from the poor, or the middle class who are going to have to pay the staggering deficit!

It is much easier for a multi millionaire to give $44,000 a year to charity, which is the average income in the United States! In addition, most give because they can write it off their taxes, if they pay any!

Baseball players make up to 70 million a year, nurses and social workers make between 30 and $75,000 a year! I think our priorities are a little screwed up!

Corporation people make millions while they have failing companies (like GM who are laying off thousands of employees), and our current Sec of the Treasury was making 60 million a year on wall street! I am sorry. No man is worth 60 million a year salary!

Bill Gates is one of the few exceptions, but he made his money with his idea's and he is one of the largest giver's in the US. Maybe that is why he is a democrat! Ben and Jerry are in the same mold, who are democrats, and Angela Jolie, who gives 1/3 of her income to Charity. She also is a democrat! Thay are not the rule in the US and they are not Republican!

And I suspect if you go to the government Census, you will find that poorer people give a much larger percentage of their income to charity than do the rich!

Bill Gates and Warren Buffett have money coming out of their ears. In both cases they went from zero to billions in wealth in their lifetimes. Now they have gotten together to give away 60 billion dollars to help the most needy. I consider them saintly or generous, but definitely not greedy.

I have money. I quit working when I realized I had enough to live on. I stepped out of the way to let someone, who needed a job, have mine. I don't think I am greedy. If someone does, I don't care. If I choose to donate to charity, it is my business.

I think many have nots are just jealous of the haves.

The people you describe above are RICH. Being rich involves more than JUST having money. It also involves being utilizing it for the benefit of the community you live in, including being altruistic. Greedy people want the money rich people have, but don't want to share their wealth with anyone, often even with family. Their objective is to amass wealth for no purpose other than to have as much money as possible, for their own benefit, but unfortunately never develop the capacity enjoy either the fruits of their labor, or helping others with their money, knowledge, skills, etc. Many times they won't even buy "stuff" with this money, they keep it in order to amass more money. (If a rich person pays $1million for a yacht how many NON wealty people benefit? How many men and women does it take to build? To service? To maintain? To run? Etc. How many of THEM are wealthy because they build yachts?)

Being wealthy creates responsibilities that most people will never deal with and many refuse to acknowledge. (For example, I employ over 100 people and pay excellent wages? How many does the average American employ full time?) At some point money quits being a necessity, needed to buy food, shelter, clothing, and becomes a tool to build a factory, buy a - fill in the blank - to support a cause or charity.

Most people believe the rich don't pay their fair share of taxes, or GIVE enough money to other "hard working" people but the truth is that wealthy people pay and give at record levels. But did you know that almost 34% of the income tax paid in America is paid by 1% of the population? Or that over half (53.8%) of all US taxes collected are paid by 5% of taxpayers?

Take Bill and Linda Gates for example. They are worth over $50Billion. They give away nearly $1Billion a year through their foundation. Ted Turner gave $1Million to the United Nations "just because". Who else could do that? A GREEDY person wouldn't bother.

Being rich creates significant responsibility others (who are not wealthy) brush off because it is easy to do. Being Greedy creates resentment and loss of trust. Greedy people are always looking for ways to not only keep their wealth, but screw you out of what you have, be it money or possessions.

Did you know 85% of the worlds wealth is held and controlled by 10% of the worlds population?

Wealth and greed are very different. The only common thread is, often, both control a significant amount of capital.

Spoiled people are the ones that rub you nose in the fact that they have money and you don't, end everything they have is better than anything you have, whether it is true or not.

Hmm . . . perhaps because of the fact he left a Seattle team that had stable expertise, for a team that stunk to hgih heavens. The Rangers provided his a $252 million over 10 years. the subsequent closest deal provided him $a hundred and sixty million. Now he's going to choose out of that contract, so he can sign a 7 or 8 three hundred and sixty 5 days deal woth 32-35 million according to. How is that not touching directly to the money? are not getting me incorrect, A-Rod is a brilliant participant. perhaps he may be the superb ever. he's worth $25 million according to three hundred and sixty 5 days on a team like the Yankees who have no shrink. yet $35?!? That isnt worht absolutely everyone

Becoming a success is no crime. Being wealthy is not a crime. It has been a pastime of many, for many decades to vilify the successful and wealthy. In recent years, going after the "Evil Mega-corporations" has become part and parcel of popular media. I think people watch too much science fiction/fantasy and take it too seriously. Many of the answerers refer to school mates acting snooty. This is not a true representation of life folks. Fact is, some make it, some don't. I am one who is not wealthy but I certainly don't hate those who are. I don't think greed, or a desire for more wealth is a bad thing in small doses. What one is willing to do to achieve a goal of success is telling as far as their morality is concerned. Judge based on what people do to get wealth rather than to make blanket judgments based on the having of wealth alone.

That is a good question. Maybe it has to do with the stereotype of rich folks ACTING greedy/stuck up. I know a lot of rich snobs go to my school (we are a private school) and them acting like brats doesnt help rid that stereotype. There are many generous wealthy people, though.

it all comes down to a story they taught you in grade school.robin hood.remember it?steal from the rich and give to the poor.bottom line is this idea that rich people are greedy is a socialist agenda, because they hate people who do well for themselves, because then they dont have to rely on big brother(the state) to take care of them.it is nothing more than a power grab.just my opinion.

Maybe because it is expected from rich people to donate more. Or maybe because people don't understand how did the people you are probably talking about became so rich.

that was an ignorant statement. How many rich people actually donate 30% or even 5% of their income. Oh you mean they have more scraps to throw out to the birds than everyone else. I see. And the reason people consider rich people greedy is because anyone who has ever worked a day in their life knows that work doesn't get you anywhere. Lieing, cheating and stealing is the key to financial success. Plain and simple

And 2 billion dollars means what to bill gates?

People are not generally considered greedy if they have money. They are considered greedy because of the way the fortune is amassed and the lack of happiness unless more money is obtained.
