Do you think it should be made illegal in the US/Canada? I do. Murder is a crime. If a women was raped I understand not wanting the child but it doesn't give her any right to kill it. She should have the baby and give it to foster care not commit murder. If she wasn't raped and had unprotected sex , the women shouldn't have an abortion she should give up the child if she didn't want it. All women have to do is take your baby to a police station fire department and give it them. Don't throw it in a microwave , don't have an abortion don't throw it in a trash cane.

Opinions? Not insults , thanks.

i think abortion should be made legal. it's the woman's choice if she wants to do have an abortion or not. you say "If a women was raped I understand not wanting the child but it doesn't give her any right to kill it. She should have the baby and give it to foster care not commit murder." imagine if the girl is 15 and she was raped and got pregnant. she has a choice if she wants to keep the baby and put if for adoption or she can have an abortion. she decides to have the baby and put it up for adoption. she has the baby, but once the nurse puts the small baby in her arms, the girl can't imagine not having that baby in her life. so she keeps the baby even though she knows the baby's father is a rapist and will never meet him. she has to drop out of high school, get a job, and work hard. she never has the chance to go to college because she has to take care of the baby. the girl and baby have to live on welfare and etc. ok, then you say "If she wasn't raped and had unprotected sex , the women shouldn't have an abortion she should give up the child if she didn't want it." if a woman got pregnant but she doesn't want the baby, then she should get an abortion because since she doesn't give a damn about that baby who else will?? let's say she had the baby. so, she goes the the fire department and leaves the baby there. the fire department leaves the baby at a foster place. the baby grows up having a dismal childhood, no money, no family, no anything. what if the child asks "how was i made? why am i here?" and the foster people answer "you're mother didn't want you." how would you react to that?? i think it's better for the baby to die then than to die/suffer later.

it should not be illegal for these reasons

1- consenting to sex, is not consenting to having a child
2- that woman may not have to raise the baby but she has to pay for medical care, not drink, not take medicine, take leave from work, and change her life to accomidate the fetus
3-every woman has her own reasons for doing this, its a hard choice and no one has the right to influence, judge, or make it for her
and most importantly

A fetus have little to no shape in the beginning and looks like an animal in the early stages. Later it takes the shape of a human. The first part of the brain it develops is a brainstem. Before the second trimester it will develop a limbic system- which controls organs.
during these stages it has no thought, no memories, and could be compared to a person in a vegitative state. Then it develops association areas- now we have human who can think, feel, see, retain memories, and possibly even dream (many people don't remember their dreams or if they dreamed inutero)

it may look like a human, may look like it is capable of thought and of feeling, and it may develop into a person- but it's not one at the time when it can be aborted

Without launching into a tirade about personal rights, and invasion of privacy, and persecution by religious zealots surrounding a medical procedure, I have one question. What is the name of the complete stranger who can step into a couple’s life and make decisions that have everlasting impacts, and then merely walk away with a righteous gleam in their eye? I’m not that stranger, and I truly believe that you are not either.

I’m not pro or con-abortion. It’s not touched my life, and for that reason alone, I do not feel qualified to stamp my feet and scream at the top of my lungs that some one is a murderer.

"Murder" is by definition the taking of a viable human life, so even if you decry abortion, it can't be considered murder until at least 6 months. Under Jewish law and tradition, life does not begin until birth. Under Fundementalist Christian doctrine, any man that "spills his seed in vain" is guilty of murder, too, even if he has 'protected sex', because he's deliberately preventing possible life!

This is not, and should not be, a matter for the courts. It's between a woman, her doctor & her god. It's none of my business, and it's none of your business either.

I hope someday all women see abortion as murder and stop having them.
