Do you think it should be made illegal in the US/Canada? I do. Murder is a crime. If a women was raped I understand not wanting the child but it doesn't give her any right to kill it. She should have the baby and give it to foster care not commit murder. If she wasn't raped and had unprotected sex , the women shouldn't have an abortion she should give up the child if she didn't want it. All women have to do is take your baby to a police station fire department and give it them. Don't throw it in a microwave , don't have an abortion don't throw it in a trash cane.

Opinions? Not insults , thanks.

It's easy , If you do take it to a police station or fire department , No questions are asked some Police/Fire departments give you a number incase you wanted your baby back. I don't see what the problem is?

It IS a legal medical procedure in the US and needs to remain legal so that it is done under the supervision and care of a trained doctor.

Now I have a question for you -- How many times is it necessary to post the same rhetorical rant on Yahoo Answers? Did you know that there are over TEN THOUSAND entries on this topic already in the database? Over FIVE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED say almost exactly what you just repeated here? Was it necessary to add another entry that says the same thing?
Do you really, honestly expect to change someone's mind about this by posting these rants over and over? What really is the point of this? Here's a link to the other abortion entries already in the database. The least you can do is read the information that is already here...

Happy reading. Try something original next time.

By the way -- do you have ANY idea what it's like to go through 9 months of pregnancy and then child birth? Have YOU ever had to just "hand a baby over to the fire department" after all that? What on EARTH gives you people these insane ideas??? Why don't YOU come and take care of these babies since it's "so easy" for you???

i think abortion should be made legal. it's the woman's choice if she wants to do have an abortion or not.

you say "If a women was raped I understand not wanting the child but it doesn't give her any right to kill it. She should have the baby and give it to foster care not commit murder." imagine if the girl is 15 and she was raped and got pregnant. she has a choice if she wants to keep the baby and put if for adoption or she can have an abortion. she decides to have the baby and put it up for adoption. she has the baby, but once the nurse puts the small baby in her arms, the girl can't imagine not having that baby in her life. so she keeps the baby even though she knows the baby's father is a rapist and will never meet him. she has to drop out of high school, get a job, and work hard. she never has the chance to go to college because she has to take care of the baby. the girl and baby have to live on welfare and etc.
ok, then you say "If she wasn't raped and had unprotected sex , the women shouldn't have an abortion she should give up the child if she didn't want it." if a woman got pregnant but she doesn't want the baby, then she should get an abortion because since she doesn't give a damn about that baby who else will?? let's say she had the baby. so, she goes the the fire department and leaves the baby there. the fire department leaves the baby at a foster place. the baby grows up having a dismal childhood, no money, no family, no anything. what if the child asks "how was i made? why am i here?" and the foster people answer "you're mother didn't want you." how would you react to that??

i think it's better for the baby to die then than to die/suffer later.

The child welfare system is already burdened with hundreds of thousands of unwanted, or ill treated children. Adding more children to the system will only further tax the overwhelmed and underfunded system.

I would like to propose that everybody who is vehemently pro life take on of these children into their homes. They are the unwanted that you are fighting so hard to save.

A child is a massive responsibility, no birth control is 100% and abstinence is just not a viable solution. Unwanted pregnancies will result. It is unfortunate, but it is an inevitability.

Abortion is not only for those unwanted pregnancies. Abortion is used in the instance that the mother was assaulted, the fetus is not developing normally, further continuance of the pregnancy will put the mother at risk, or in the instance that the mother is carrying too many fetuses and the likelihood of her carrying to term is low (selective reduction).

There are only a handful of places with baby drop programs. Adoption is a legal process and often requires both parents waiving their parental rights. In certain locations dropping your child at a police station, fire house, or hospital could result in abandonment charges.

There is also an ongoing debate as to when life begins, for a the first three the "baby" is little more than a lump of cells. There is no neurological formation, respiration, it is just a lump of cells. Would it be acceptable to abort during this time frame?

Carrying the child to term allows the mother nine months to go through all the physical and emotional changes that will result in a bond with the child. It is more likely than not that she will choose to keep the child and raise it in a home where there was little financial or emotional preparation for motherhood. These for the most part are the children you see in the child protective system.

If you would like to support bringing more children into emotionally unstable impoverished homes that is your prerogative.

I disagree vehemently. I had an abortion at 10 weeks. I wasn't raped. I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend and it was an accident. I would be all in favour of your idea if you could give the child up at a similar stage to when you have an abortion. ie. if I could have given the 10 week old foetus to the police station, that's exactly what I would have done. But that's the problem. Women who have abortions are not unfeeling monsters (despite what you may think) and a woman would have to carry the baby to term, feel it moving inside her, give birth to it, produce milk for it and begin bonding with it and then have to give it up. If I had had to go through that, there's no way I would have given it up. But it doesn't change the fact that I was in no way emotionally, financially or psychologically ready for a child and both that child and I would have suffered. At 10 weeks, you can choose what scientific research to believe, but at 10 weeks a foetus is not developed enough to experience pain so I made the right decision whether you think so or not. It was an awful experience and I was devastasted at the time but now, I don't regret it and I'm not sorry.

Finally, it is terribly irresponsible of you to be on a message forum possibly influencing a young girl who finds herself with a difficult decision to make. I respect your view but you shouldn't be pressuring other people with your view.

why should a woman suffer any more after being raped finding out shes pregnant because of it? how would that child feel if they found out how they where made? how would you feel if you was the after effect of rape or under age sex? it wouldn't be fair on the baby or woman (mother) and being adopted isn't the best answer it can cause alot of upset and even depression for some children and adults after finding out that their mothers didn't want them or couldn't handle them.wouldn't it be better to have an abortion then give birth to a baby and leave it behind a bin?you should never think about your self when it comes to baby's! its a hard question though some could say having it aborted is selfish but so is being made to give birth to it, right? there are already millions of children up for adoption every day it must be horrible to be one of then. an abortion is something that men should have a say to wemon seem to forget the baby is half theres too. this arguement can go on and on....its a fight that cant be one. wemon i believe should have the right to choose.

It is easy to hide a 3 month pregnancy. At nine months impossible. Some people don't want people to know what they have been doing. I don't think it is right but that is the way it is.
You are never going to make it illegal. But I do wish they would pass a law that all women have to take a pill.

its a womens choice. it is HER child. we already pay millions in welfare, the child might likely be abused if the mother didnt want it in the first place, and adoption centers would be filled with children already orphaned. a 50 year old man shouldnt make the decision for a women and her baby. she should. a stranger should not budge in personal affairs. besides, we (america) are already killing thousands of our own and innocents in this war.

I agree, mostly. No one should be allowed an abortion without cause. In the case of rape- it should be reported right away and dealt with then. If there is danger for the mother to deliver, then that would be at least debatable. Maybe she could carry til near term and have a c-section. Any other situation should be 'pre-meditated murder-first degree' for the mother, doctor, nurse, receptionist and everyone involved in the slightest way.

It is legal in Canada. There is not the debate about it as there is in the States.

I Think the issue of abortion should not be an issue the governmet should be sticking its nose in. I feel like this. If a woman wants an abortion she should do it herself and perform the deed with her own hands. There should be strict punishment for anybody other than the parents engaging in abortion activities.

Why should my government which is all of our voices be offering you solutions and alternatives to your own personal problems? Go buy an abortion kill kit, do it yourself, and speak none of it to me...
