Two days ago I got blood drawn at the doctors and when I got home my arm was hurting pretty bad. Is a shooting pain that runs up my arm and it feels like my muscle is really tight. I dont understand what happened and I dont believe its an infection. Did she maybe hit a nerve when she took the blood?

Its rare but it can occur you do have nerves that run down your arms. It happens most (on the rare occasion) to someone who has very small arms. On the good side it will almost always go away but it can take a week or so. The other small possibility is there is some swelling inside from the blood draw and that would press on the nerve again this takes about a week to clear up.

If it feels like a muscle spasm try a warm towel soaked in Epsom salt it will help it relax.

An infection would be red (possibly streaky) warm to touch and tender. It may or may not have a discharge. If you do think it is an infection I would encourage you to seek medical attention ASAP.

Good luck!

Yes / No
I had the same thing happen to me at my Drs in the lab also.
What she did was not find the vein right away, so she moves the needle (which by the way is like a razor blade don't forget),
back and forth to find vein, and I say Ouch, she says don't move I said I'm not moving, you are! She says no I'm not....We went back and forth saying this...she (bad word here) said," there!"
So I now have a lump in there which is scar tissue from her looking for the stupid vein..........This happened to me at our Hospital in my opposite arm 12 years ago, So I knew what she was doing but I was too afraid to move my arm away..!!!.
And by the way, Huge Lump in L arm for 12 years ...They do not go away...Trust Me!

It happens on occasion, but should go away in another couple days.
