My husband wants to pick up the guitar again after 5 years of not playing. He use to play his father's Fender.
I would like buy him a acoustic guitar for Christmas but am completely overwhelmed!
Would anyone be so kind as to point out a good guitar that isn't going to cost a fortune but isn't a "student" guitar either. (Preferably a common brand name.)

Thanks for you help!
Merry Christmas :)

as a musician I will tell you its best not to buy junk just because of its name there are many budget guitars out there and it really depends on what he likes fenders are nice when set up properly but you are paying for its name and sometimes its not that great of a guitar thing you want to consider are action (the space between the strings and fret board) size of the neck and overall feel my advice would be when you and your husband are near a music store think of an excuse to go in and ask him which guitar he likes don't let him chose only on looks make sure he picks it up and tries it some times the best looking ones are the worst to play and getting a guitar that's hard to play will make Evan an experienced musician give it up good luck

Its good to hear that youre husband is again interested in playing, the thing with buying acoustics, is that cheap ones sound....well, cheap!! and the name brand of the guitar should have little or no bearing on youre decision to buy, its the sound, craftsmanship, and playability that matters. Ovation, and Ibanez make a very nice, and affordable acoustic. if you have some money to spend, a Martin would be worth evrey penny, but they tend to be expensive.

paying for a guitar for somebody is incredibly complicated - one guitar that somebody likes to play would desire to be disliked by using yet another in terms of woods, convenience playability etc. although, i think of this element is incredibly decreased once you're speaking approximately greater funds selection gadgets yet ought to although be seen. At my previous shop we used to sell infinite guitars from Tanglewood - think of it replaced into the tw-28 that replaced into in that funds.
