The greatest cause of death to the Native people of North America was disease. Native people had absolutely no immunities to the European diseases that they were being subjected to. It even became a war tactic, especially in the Northeast. "Soldiers" would bring blankets and other items infected with smallpox and give them to unaware Native people as a "gift" knowing that the disease could wipe out an entire village in an absurdly short amount of time.

Lead poisoning?...Kidding!!! The greatest causes (2) of their death was disease and starvation. White men gave them all those lovely diseases like small-pox and syphillis, then killed off the buffalo (at the governments request) to try and keep them on reservations. What a pity, what a waste.

Decease we gave them. Bacterial, Viral, etc. They were, what is known as a virgin population. While Louis and Clark where returning from there expedition, they found 10's of thousands of dead native people, that where all alive when they passed through the first time. They died , just from exposure to them. We also gave them sexually transmitted deceases.
