Yes, she REALLY did have 21 babies. They cannot physically contain more than 24 babies, 8-10 is "normal", but litters up to 24 are not unheard of. I am not exagerrating about the amount of babies, there'd be no reason to, I could care less what anyone thinks about how many, my only concern is to keep mama(Etta is her name) healthy enough so that she doesnt kill herself trying to feed all these little critters! They cannot be weaned until nearly 4 weeks, so giving them away is not an option at this point, nor is selling them. So far, everyone cross your fingers, they are all still alive!!!!

awwwwwwwww!!! =)

definitely keep extra treats and yummies in the cage nearest to her to keep her snacking, some fresh veggies as well.

keep an eye on which babies already ate and help them all to get turns. the more she nurses the more milk comes back, if she is anything like a nursing human.

keep them in 3 separate piles of 7 to help keep track of feeding turns?... (ask a vet b4 you try that suggestion)

don't be too surprised if she eats some of them. hamsters are known for that. (keep her already stuffed!)

Get a food dropper and a hamster milk supplement recommended by some online source and just keep offering food all the time (big job but so rewarding)

You could definitely offer some to the pet store, if they would be willing to feed them from a dropper for you.

p.s. our hamster Ham-Ham says hi and congrats to your little ones hehehe

I find it very hard to believe that your hamster had 21 babies. Normal is around 5-7. Do you have more than one female hamster in the cage??? Call your vet and maybe the Guiness Book of World Records too.

Just make sure she has food and water at all times!! She will probably eat some of them. I had a hamster with 14 babies and only 2 survived!! She ate the rest of them!! If something is wrong with any of them she will do that.

Just put extra water and food in her cage so she can make enough milk for all of the babies. But chances are their no all going to live!

just make sure she has plenty of food and water... she can take care of herself, and as many babies as survive. Don't expect them all to survive. There is a reason that rodents have lots of babies.

Impossible......ensure she ( the mom ) has enough of her own food and water to give her offspring enough nutirents. Are you for real? I have never heard of this. 21 offspring! This is a joke right?
