Ive got one .....but have searched everywhere and can't find another , no one i know has seen one ...It has the Jefferson head,
and the tail side is a sailing ship, and the artwork is incredible and detailed great.

Will this be the only year it is released?

I am a collector too......and the only way it ould be rare is if it was unc and in a set of sorts .
and yes this is the only year!!...but hey have fun anyway!!..and i bet youll find one thats rare if ya don't give up!!!!

This is what I found, so, not rare and been incirculation since 2004;

In late 2004 a second Jefferson nickel was released. It features a design of the boat that Lewis and Clark used on their expedition. Captains Lewis and Clark can be seen in full uniform in the bow of the keelboat. Built to the specifications of Captain Lewis, the keel boat could be moved using sails, poles, oars, or pulling from the river bank. This five cent design was created by United States Mint sculptor Al Maletsky.

Yes this is the only year it will be released, but no it is not rare. There will be a lot of them. It will be no more rare than any of the four state quarters released this year.

yes i have seen them. no they are not rare.
its part of a recently released series of nickels
it includes:
the Louisiana purchase....2 hands shaking
the Lewis and Clark...there are 2 different ones...one w/ a ship and one of the ocean
a buffalo

i saw it, but since they came out with like 3 different versions of the nickle this year, dunno is it'll stay
