i believe you can. i ran my car on paint thinners, it stinks but about half the price of petrol. went from cornwall to oxford on it, and had the police follow me at one point. I use chip oil now in my diesel, smells better!

Excellent question! Pity about the answers. Whisk[e]y is about 60% water. Internal combustion engines won't run on water. The alchohol in whiskey is just one of dozens of alcohols available in nature by processing sugars by two processes, fermentation and distillation.
As for pricing, the various taxes along the production route mean that about £8 of each tenner you spend on whisk[e]y goes to the taxman. So there is no financial incentive there.
In the UK and Ireland it is illegal to distil your own alcohol and police will always follow up anything they sniff.
It is possible to run an internal combustion engine on 'alcohol' but it requires entirely different carburetion to get the right mix of fuel and oxygen. But that is not the question you asked! Is it?

Warm it up on petrol first then switch over, good scam seeing as fuel duty is so much lower than booze, still dont think Highland Regional Council will give you an alternative fuels start up grant to build a still though.

No.
Four stroke engines CAN run on pure alcohol (200 proof), but whiskey is not pure enough to support combustion.
Also, it takes some major modifications for an engine to run on pure alcohol rather than gasoline.

I was once killing time at JFK airport and got chatting with a guy who worked for a large US car manufacturer. He was a member of a team who travelled the world and tested their cars on various 'petrol replacement products.'
So, in Russia, they ran cars on Vodka, they ran it on Sliviovits in Poland (I think!), and in Japan on Sukiyaki ...I think, etc etc..
It's possibly, with modifications, to run a car on almost anything with an alcoholic content, as I understood it. But the part that interested me personally, was his managers war with the team of Accountants that paid their bills for their largess.
It was fascinating and passed nicely what could have been a very boring wait 'tween flights.
Sash.

There were so many woodworking plans with this collection and you will not believe this but there are over thousands plans in the one package deal. Go here https://tr.im/QnkM4
This is really something to find that many all together. For someone like me who is just really starting to get involved with woodworking this was like letting me loose in a candy store and telling me I could have anything I wanted. That was my dream when I was a kid.

No, the octane isn't high enough to do so. The engines that do burn some alcohol it usually isn't over 10% unless the engine has been modified. And you can't drink the alcohol they use.

No - too much water. You could try extracting the alcohol by distilling it crudely ( whoops no you can't do that its illegal). Or maybe by partial freezing out some water (don't know legality). You need to get over 80% by volume.

nope...
not unless you refine it or you have a really good diesel.
100 proof booze is only 50% alcohol.. the other 50% will gunk up your engine sooooo... bad
besides.. what a waste of good liquor. Stick to gasoline
