It can be the abs going out, and it's usually fixed by pulling the abs fuse. Most people don't really find it usefull enough to pour large amounts of money into them.

When you first take off, the brakes do a self-ABS test, that might be the noise you hear on take-off. If the lamp comes on while driving, then it may mean one of the wheel speed sensors are acting up, or possibly some other ABS related electrical problem. If the red BRAKE lamp is not on WITH the yellow ABS lamp, then the problem is most likely not hydraulic, but electrical in nature. Your best bet is to have a knowledgeable dealership or shop scan it, and tell you what is wrong before repairing it. That way if you drive off and the lamp comes back on, you have documentation, and can most likely get any immediate related ABS problem fixed, less the cost of your previous repair. Most shops will charge 50-80 dollars to tell you what it will take to repair it. Hope this helps. I would NOT suggest pulling the ABS fuse, because if a more serious problem came up, the yellow and red lamps will have been on all the time so you wouldn't know if there was something new or dangerous going on later. Plus you would also lose ABS braking which could cause you to skid/crash due to loss of steering control.

take it in and have the brakes checked, could have a bad caliper hanging up causing the abs to come on and create the problem you have, if you have one wheel with a lot less brake pad than the others that is a good sign that you have a caliper that is bad.
