OK.. a little short on details so lets make some assumptions and give a generic answer.

I assume you are working on a car alarm and want to have the ignition disabled.

1) Your starter works by two hot leads. A small one comes from the ignition switch and goes to the starter relay.

2) A big thick one goes from the battery to the starter relay.

find the small one and trace it back to a point where you can safely cut it.

Splice in your alarm wires to both ends of the cut wire and your car will now only start when the alarm lets it.

Assumption #2..

you want to isolate the battery.

you will need a short 6" to 12" Battery cable.

1) Disconnect the red/positive lead that goes into the battery and connect it to the kill switch.

2) Attach the new cable between the remaining lug on the kill switch to the battery.

3) Be sure to mount the kill switch so that no metal car parts can come in contact with the exposed terminals. If any do you will have a light show that you can not believe as there will be no fuse to blow and stop the battery from meltdown.

hope this helped

Don't know why you want to put a kill switch on a starter, I think what you are looking for here is to kill the spark.
To do this just run a wire from the coil to a push button to ground. When you push the button it shorts the spark to ground.
It stops the spark and it stops.

To kill the starter run the wire that turns starter on to a switch then to the starter. When you turn off the switch it cuts the power to the starter and thus no start if you turn the key.
