If you were driving yes, and you don't need a passport YET but it's still recommended (you only need a passport right now for airport crossings). If you're flying, which I'd suggest, you can fly to the Continental U.S. from Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Sitka.

The rules about passports at the Canadian border are being changed. It used to be that you needed a birth certificate and driver's license. People going to Alaska travel the Alaska Highway through British Columbia and Yukon territories of Canada. It's a very long drive. I do not think the road is paved the whole way. It's a good gravel road/ highway. We have plenty of them here in South Dakota.

Yes I did yesterday (Australia) - also $USD150,000. Not sure about this either. I travelled through the region 13 years ago - almost ten years before Alaskas Travel existed! I have no idea how they got my name and address, I am definitely not one of their '100,000 members'. Apparently there are two $150,000 prizes, therefore if anyone else gets the same prize, I would suggest it is a scam. Looking at the details, there's $740,000 cash in prizes which seems most unusual for a 'scratchy' comptetition. I may follow up but would never give account details - i would ask for a bank cheque or similar.

That is a long trip. I took the Alaskan Highway both ways years ago and it takes FOREVER.
I don't know that you need a passport to travel through Canada, but they are picky about who they even let come through. I had a friend that they wouldn't let in, because he had a DUI years ago.
Be prepared to answer questions at the border and know that they could tear apart your car in a random search.
Otherwise, have a Fantabulistic trip!
