Definitely not a liberal! We still have Iran's President Mahmud Ahmadinedad to contend with and that is not a job I would entrust to a liberal!

For starters, it should be someone with brains and experience in government, not a showcase governor of a state where the governor doesn't do diddly.
The people with the most experience and best-qualified are Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden for the Democrats and John McCain for the Republicans. All have their faults. Hillary is a woman which will turn people off because they feel the President should be a rich, white male. And, a lot of people - women included - don't like powerful females. Joe Biden is very blunt and outspoken - perhaps too much so. And, he's saddled with the burden of being from a small state - Delaware. McCain has in recent months called for an escalation of the war in Iraq by sending more troops in and that won't fly. In addition, he has become an apologist for the Bush administration.
Perhaps the best-qualified person of all isn't even on this list since he's indicated he won't run and that's former Vice President Al Gore - the real winner of the 2000 election.
People such as Evan Bayh and Rudy Guiliani don't stand any more of a chance than you or I at winning. Bayh didn't exactly distinguish himself as governor of Indiana and Guiliani is carrying around too much personal baggage, plus his health would be a concern.

New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, a Democrat. He's half latino, has good intellect, a sense of fairness and seems to be a reasonable person.

I say Republican because a split government, in my opinion, is always better. That means less radical changes because the President will actually be questioned, which he was not for the past 6 years.
Ideally, I'd like an old-fashioned conservative, but who knows if this is possible.

I think a Republican should be given the chance to get the country out of the mess this Republican President has gotten it in to,...It's only fair....pass the ball to another "DECIDER"....Wait four more years, and evaluate the ability of this person, vote that person in for another term, and show the world what a bunch of "sheeple" we truly are....

For me, it matters less the party affiliation and more, the grit and determination to make difficult choices based on what is best for the country's future survival while paying less attention to public opinion polls than other previous leaders. I cannot come up with a name for you, sorry. That choice is yet to be seen and I hope, based on what matters to me, that the person chosen will have that strength. Thanks.
