Don't worry about how much it costs, get him something from the heart that he'll really appreciate.

Depends on your Dad's interests, show a bit of initiative to find these out & then buy something accordingly.
Even if it's a book token because he's a reader at least you've made an effort.
DO NOT GET SLIPPERS, Dads do not want slippers for their Christmas, they only pretend to like them because they don't want to hurt their childrens feelings.

Buy a nice photo frame and put your favourite photo of yourself in it and give him that.
A lot of things that the stores stock that are aimed at dads are a waste of time, they may appear useful at first when you buy them, but I'll guarantee you that by January it will be stuck in a cupboard somewhere, never to be used again. Whereas a photograph of yourself he'll keep out for two reasons, firstly, it reminds him of you. Secondly, it will always be out for fear of offending you.

I have trouble getting my dad things too.
He hates shopping so sometimes I buy him a new shirt or something.
He loves slippers and robes - so once i got him one of those.
A dvd is good.
If he likes books maybe a good book.
A subcribtion to his favortie magazine!?
A gift card?
A gas card?
Just some options?!

What about one of those huge torches that would illuminate the moon. Most men ( and boys) like torches. Look in Argos.
