I would hope that my friend would come clean and do the time along with me, but if that wasn't the case then no I wouldn't snitch. I have a close involvement with the prison system and know that if any other inmate found out you gave up your best friend to get a reduced charge they wouldn't not be very friendly to you at all. I would rather have 5 years of time that was as peaceful as possible, than 2 years of hell from the other inmates. Also, would you want your friend to give you up if they were the one caught and not you? And no, I have no children but that would not influence my decision either way. My children would be better off if I was ALIVE when I got out.

A question about loyalty among thieves, eh? They say there is no such thing. I'm thinking a person who is willing to commit a crime, especially if they have small kids (which they obviously don't care much about, as they would rather risk going to prison then getting a real job) would automatically tell on their best friend. Anything to save themselves, as they obviously have no respect for other people.
If the best friend is the kind who would help commit a felony, then they can't truly be a friend. A friend is someone who cares about the individual and would talk them out of commiting crimes rather than aiding them.
Personally, I would never be 'caught' for a crime because life is too short and crime does NOT pay. It's much easier to have a steady job, to know that you will have money coming in honestly and not have to drag kids and family down - possibly lose the kids to CPS. But then again, maybe that doesn't matter because obviously the person is thinking more about their short term 'wants' than the long term 'needs' of the children.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time...And ratting out your best friend is a good way to get very dead. When you go to prison, your records will be accessed by inmates known as trustees. The WILL let everyone know you snitched, and your life won't be worth much. Keep your lip zipped, the chances are you will make parole after a year or so, not too many people serve "hard time" for a minor felony. You could even get off on probation, depending on your past record. Then you would have a whole new set of problems...Because your friend will know that you rolled over on him, and there is no telling what he might do, or have done to you.

Well I have been caught for alot of things even felony's. I have twin babies and still wouldn't tell. If you are friends why would you do that. Chances are the cops already know who it is anyways. Cops always try to scare the crap outta you to get you to talk when you will end up getting the reduced sentance anyways. They told me I was looking at 30 years plus all these phony charges and come to find out they really couldn't have put me in prison for more than a couple years. Hire a good lawyer and you will be okay. Cops hate snitches so really you don't win in this situation. If it is a small felony you won't get 5 years anyways. Have you been in truble before. If not plead 1st offenders. Or nolo. nolo is always good. They say you can't plead it more than once in 5 years. Thats a lie. Anyways if you have any questions let me know. i am curious to know what you did. I have probably done the same thing or worse and i could tell you what they did to me.

I wouldn't say anything. Snitching is a no-no just to get lesser time. I might even get off early for good behavior, so 5 years or 2 years would really make no difference. I have 1 son and one child on the way.

Well it depends on the crime, if I think they would commit it again I would give their names but not just to get a shorter sentence. If I trusted them not to commit a crime again I don't know what I would do, I like to believe I would keep my mouth shut but when faced with three extra years of jail I probably would talk.

Depends on what happened at the scene. If I got mad at her for screwing up the plan and are still in a vengeful mode, I probably would but would regret it later.
But it is funner to be in jail with your best friend than alone.
